Also, is a processor a huge bulky thing or a neat little package?

Either you've got a real dual core or one with virtual core (HT feature).
Processor is just a small neat package about the size of a bite size cracker. It is the cooler (heatsink/fan) that is bulky.

small neat package about the size of a postage stamp
actually the thing where all the transistors are is about smaller then the size of a pinkie's finger print about half a cm x 1cm its under the metal heat spreader (don't take it off though!)
That makes no sense either you have a special motherboard mostly used in servers which have 2 sockets for processors in them or windows ****** up as there is no such thing as a dual core Pentium 4 (well there is a dual core that uses the same processor as it it is not called a Pentium 4 )

It's because according to your screenshot, you have a Pentium 4 with Hyperthreading enabled. This "Hyperthreading" is like, imitating two processors by doing things a little differently. However, that hyperthreading does not compare to a real dual core processor or two processors running in tandem.

As for processor sizes, they are usually small. Pentium 4 processors are never bigger than two inches in diameter,

U can see dual on the interface but wen u open ur comp the cpu is still 1 but u wont see it, its covered by that bulky thing u see is a heat sinker that keeps the cpu from overheating big time.

You either have a dual core cpu or a pentium 4 with hyperthreading. They both show up twice in the device manager. In one of my machines I have a Pentium Extreme Edition 840 that is rare as it has both dual cores and hyper-threading. It shows up as four 3.2 cpus. Right-click "my computer" then left-click "properties" to see what kind of cpu you have.

He's right you wouldn't see processor in my computer view. if you do see 2 processors in system view You likely have a duel core processor .
Also your processor (well a p4 )is about 1.5 inch by 1.5 inch and about a ¼ inch thick. Fairly small.

a processor is a chip on your motherboard. all that shows up in my computer are storage devices. i think you're confusing processor with hard drive.
