For the best security, log on to your router and enable wireless security. If it supports WPA that is better than WEP. Once you enable security it will ask you for a "pass phrase" or password. You make one up that you can remember. Go to your computer and tell it to connect, it will prompt you for the password. You now have an encrypted connection.

As additional security log back into your router and turn the SSID off so that you do not announce your router to the world. Then to connect you will need both the SSID and the WPA key. That will keep unauthorized users off your system.

Basic is to use wep wireless equivalent privacy. go to your wireless router and get the key for the router. The person above giive a good answer.
