If your talking whites and Indians, then you'd look up "Jamestown" the first settlement for the whites that landed in 1604.
The Indians, the Powhatan (spelling) Pocahontas's tribe and John Smith. They had skirmishes before and during the settling, when the supply ship returned after three years they found the area empty. Thinking the Indians killed them all.
There's also the Roanoke settlement about the same time, the same thing happen with great mystery as to what happen but, in the later years Indians with blue eyes and blond hair were found further West.
