Just remember you can put it in the bank but it can take up to 6 weeks to clear. Don't spend it yet!
If he cashed it at a bank he needs to be prepared to give it back in a couple of months or face a possible warrent.

He should be, because he is liable for the full amount of the checks and can be charged with fraud and likely will be once the bogus checks start bouncing.
