Japan still to this day shows such arrogance for the truly horrific atrocities they committed - eg Rape of Nanking. They never apologised or paid compensation to the victims. And, of course, don't teach their children about their past in school. The prime minsters also still visit visit the graves of war criminals.

People say that we were bad for dropping two A bombs on them. But no one complained at the time when Japan was even more hated than Germany.

An Australian girl said I should let it go and I replied she should be ashamed because it was mainly Aussie POWs they tortured and murdered.

IN SUMMARY, I HATE JAPAN FOR WHAT THEY DID IN WW 2 AND I'M GLAD WE DROPPED TWO A BOMBS ON THEM.

We only dropped the second because they would not surrender. And we arned them in advance.

The A bomb shortened the war by 3 years. It actually saved millions of lives

The reason I single out Japan is their total lack of remorse. Germany paid compensation, apologised and made any glorification of Nazism a criminal offence.

Japan has done none of these things.

As for the guy with a Jap girlfrend - ask her about the comfort women - Chinese women forced to become prostitutes for Japnese soldiers

I am surprised how little support my POV received. How short your memories are.

I don't hate Germany because they are truly remorseful and the US tries to do good (does not always succeed but they are white hats).

I know sorry really is the hardest word for the Japanese to say but they should apologise unequivocally and pay substantial compensation whilst some of their victims are still alive.

I don't want weasel words and sophistry.

Have you ever look at the wiki before you poste
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/battle_of_okinawa
"There are many Okinawans who have testified that the Japanese Army directed them to commit suicide. There are also people who have testified that they were handed grenades by Japanese soldiers (to blow up themselves)."

"Some of the civilians, having been induced by Japanese propaganda to believe that U.S. soldiers were barbarians who committed horrible atrocities, killed their families and themselves to avoid capture. It is believed many Okinawans threw themselves and their family members from the cliffs where the Peace Museum now resides. Other Okinawans were murdered by Japanese to prevent their capture or to steal their food and supplies."(exhausted by your own soldier perhaps)

Simple hatred gets us nowhere.
In private, the Japanese have apologised for certain war crimes. Before making any accusations about "not teaching their children about the past" - get a Japanese high school textbook, get it translated, and then tell us what the books do or do not say about the Japanese empire from 1895 - 1945.

I am not defending the Japanese, I am only telling those who make such accusations to get all the facts. If a token politician makes a visit to a cemetery, it often is a political gesture, and he himself may not have any feelings for the "heroes" and war criminals whose names are listed at the Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo.

I am not one of those who say it was bad to drop the bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki - in fact the result was the Japanese were forced to accept unconditional surrender and a lot of lives were saved. The Australians were not the only ones who were tortured by the Japanese, in fact the Chinese suffered the most. I do not advocate "letting it go" - I advocate learning on a continual basis the events of the past - and putting in them proper perspective.

In summary, I do not hate the Japanese. What they did in the past was criminal. I am not glad that the bombs were dropped on those two cities - but I am glad the war ended in 1945.

The vast majority of the Japs responsible for the war crimes you wrote about are now dead. Some even committed suicide following the surrender. The Japs were also horrific towards millions of civilians, such as the Chinese, Koreans, etc. They murdered, tortured, and raped, every where their army went. Hundreds of thousands of young Korean girls were forced into brothels run by the Imperial Jap Army to service their soldiers. Many Europeans and Americans living in China were held captive during the war. The Philippines suffered greatly as well. But we really should forgive Japan and move on. Today's Japanese are, for the most part, good, hard working people. They make really products as well. Our family owns a number of Japanese products and are very satisfied. My father was a WWII veteran in the Pacific and forgave them. In order to receive forgiveness from God, we must forgive others. Ask Jesus to help you with this. Hope this helps.

I feel sorry for you to have to bear such hate in modern times for what happened 60 years ago. All of the crimes that you complain of, your country is equally guilty of. If you are Australian or American, recall how your ancestors butchered the natives, and have never apologized. Are you filled with hate for them as well. Why not get a life and move on. You will feel much better for it.

My lover is from Japan. Miyuki was born in 1971, so she certainly had nothing to do with anything that happened in the 1930's or 1940's. It is ridiculous to be obsessed with things that happened long ago. Miyuki is a sweet and gentle gal who never argues with anyone. She certainly would not approve of atrocities. I do not regret our dropping atomic bombs on Japan in 1945, but I would not approve of doing it in 2007. Check your calendar.

First of all, your comment " The prime minsters also still visit visit the graves of war criminals." is totally wrong. Yasukuni shrine is NOT a GRAVE. The grave of the A class criminals are located in different place. PM haven't visited the grave.
Yasukuni is just a memorial shrine.

And as for the war time, Japan and China or Korea have already come to have a settlement accord (Joint Communiqué) in the past and Japan paid tons of compensation money for China and Korea. But both nation haven't announced this to their citizens. And also Japan have been released more than 35 apology statements.

As for Nanking, Japan don't deny the incident. But China says Japan killed 300,000 ppl. Think about it with exact data. The population of Nanking (Nanjing) at the moment was only 200,000. How could Japanese army killed whole of the population? The Nanking city existed even after that. Japan just make an objection against this trustless information.

As for text book, Japan teaches regarding war time. But think about. Does the text book show EVERYTHING what the US troops did in the Vietnam and Cambodia? How about the atrocities to the captives in Iraq and Afgan? How they describe the lots of collateral death of citizens in their attack? I DO NOT think the US writes EVERYTHING. Do the US teach childrens how Americans are brutal? I don't think so.
That IS the attitude of each nations. No one can blame Japan only.

And as for the "History Textbook Reform", there are more than 20 official history text books in Japan. And the text book you referenced is done by just ONE author. Actually most schools DO NOT adopt the problem text book for their class. You shuld study carefully.

As for the comfort women, Japan admits the historical fact. But how do you proof the Japan as a nation forced them? There are no proof. Japan knows lots of private organizations offered that kind of job. As you say,"prostitutes for Japanese soldiers". Yes. Not "by Japanese soldiers". It shouldn't be directly connected to Japan government.
Do you know tons of US troops stood in a queue in front of the sex comfort stations around 1945-1950 in Japan? Most of the girls were NOT prostitutes, but common Japanese women. Do you say the US forced this? I don't think so. Japan government? I don't think so.

And if you say "remorse", you also total lack of remorse. US destroyed more than 470 Japanese cities aheard of A-Bomb.
Tokyo, Osaka and Okinawa was the worst. Before the A-bomb, Japan had got exhausted already.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bombing_of_Tokyo_in_World_War_II
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Okinawa

Study history carefully again. Do you know how much Japan paid compensation to the world?. The total amount is bigger than Germany did. Because Germany paid for Nazi's compensation only, but they don't assume it was whole German's responsibility. Japan is opposite. War is responsible for all Japanese. That is why ppl visit Yasukuni even today.
Your pos is very biased.

And I would say "Animosity and hatred create nothing. They would just destroy your future life."

Matthew 7:
For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you.

in accordance to maximum estimates, the instantaneous outcomes of the blast killed approximately 70,000 human beings in Hiroshima.
