0.18N refers to the # of molecules in Potassium Permanganate
while the 0.02mol refers to the # of moles in Potassium Permanganate

Normality is an old-fashioned concept that is not used in the UK any more. A 1N solution of KMnO4 is 1/5 of its formula weight dissolved in 1 litre of solution. Or 1/3, depending on the reaction that it is going to do! That's why we don't use it in the UK! So 0.18N is 0.18 x 1/5 (or 1/3) x formula weight grams per litre.

A 1M solution of KMnO4 is the formula mass in grams dissolved in 1 litre of solution, irrespective of the reaction.

0.02 mol is an actual quantity of KMnO4, calculated by multiplying 0.02 x the formula weight of KMnO4.

in the first 0.18N refers to the normality of the solution which denotes how many no. of equivalents are dissolved per litre of the compund in soln.
normality= n*molarity
where n factor is the number electrons participating in redox reactions (here n=7)


in second it is simple molarity given of the solution.


it is important to note that in case of equivalents , the reaction does not alter the no.of equivalents though the number of moles of each participating reactant in the chemical reaction may change.

normality (N) refers to how many mol/L of dissociable reactive groups are contained in a solution of molecules. For example:

M = mol / L

a 1.0 M solution of NaOH is also a 1.0 N solution (with reference to OH-)

but
a 1.0 M solution of Ca(OH)2 is 2.0 N
