the mic socket is directy connected to ur sound card? if so, u might push the sound card during ur connecting. connect mic first and turn on ur computer. If it isn't connected like that, reinstall driver. If not change ur mic and test again.

If you are plugging the mic on the front panel, it is possible that the mic wires from the front panel are incorrectly connected to the motherboard, causing an error that triggers the restart. Try plugging mic at the back panel.
