Yes, go to your GP. He will be able to perscribe a drug called Nores-somethingorother which you can take to delay your period, without any unpleasant side effects

Talk to your doctor about going on an oral contraceptive before the holiday. They might help with the heavy flow also. You take one pill a day and for three weeks it keeps you period free then one week some of the pills allow you to have your period. You just skip over those pills and start the next dose to stop your period during this time. Just don't skip a pill because that will start your period again.

There are 2 drugs that an be used to delay your period, both can still be used with the coil. Either the contraceptive pill, taken continuously for 42 days or, particularly if you have any contraindications or risk factors the progesterone norithisteone can be used.

The usual advice is to take contraceptive pills to delay the period. However when I tried this I found that I had an uncomfortable bloated feeling and I had 'spotting' - a kind of slow leak. which seemed to go on for longer than my period would have done. In short I would rather have had a week's normal period and got it over with.

ask your GP and they will be able to give you a drug that will prolong it.
I am going away in April next year and not on the pill as we are wanting to try for a baby, I have discovered that I am the same as you, and will be due while away.
Good luck and enjoy your hols.
