So we all know that Mr. Amr Diab finally came out with his new album. People are making such a big deal out of it although I think it is not that great, one of his worst albums ever. As I was watching tv yesterday, there were 100s of ads acknowledging that the premiere of his new clip is today. Tons of people were waiting for it like crazy sitting in front on tv waiting and waiting for the video clip. I saw ppl writing sms in that line at the end of the screen.people (boys&girls)were sending msgs showing their love to Amr and stuff they said were:
- AMR DIAB IS 1 OF THE 7TH WONDERS OF THE WORLD!
- AMR DIAB BA7IBAK MOOT.MARRY ME
- AMR DIAB UR THE BEST MAN IN THE WORLD
-AMR U R THE ONLY SINGER WHO HAS REAL FEELINGS AND CAN FEEL US FOR REAL
-others were writing him songs like 7abitak wel 7ob nadany, Allah la ye7rimny menak.....
and moreeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.... what has gotten into us? why r ppl acting this way. he is just a damn singer for god's sake!I'm not against being a fan of some1

and im not sayin this out of hatreds,as I do not hate him or anything. I listen to his music and enjoy it,but I'm against taking a star so personally and making him my role model.
After all,the video clip sucked anyway, nothing new.He somehow managed to choose the wost song in the album to make it a vidoe clip "ni2ool eeh" The only good song in the album that really deserves to be made a clip is "khaleek ma3aya"

Please people, he is just a singer. I hope ppl wud show their love to Islam, Allah, and prophet Muhammad and not to a singer or an actor.

the problem as you said in the last lines ruby...the youth are missing the real role model..they should be seeking the guidance of more important person..the prophet Mohammad(salla Allah alyhe wasalm).....they are lost with their desires and also the media plays a great role in this delusion...they convince them that they sing for them and feel for them.....
if someone wants to listen to someone..ok...but not as if his life depends on it.....
my friends told me about tamer's show...alhamdulelah i didnt see it...she swear girls was throwing themselves on him...even one girl went up to the stage hugged him and she tied her hands so the security won't get her down..they tried so hard that she and tamer fall on the stage together...and finally they throw her among the crowds!!
what's going on?where are her parents to lead her??....

Ismaily does rule!

'agree with him 100% It's all about passion, that strong feeling towards a thing or person. All of us have, to some degree, a "thing" for something or someone and he said it himself, he llkes soccer. Some people might find it silly for Ismaily to like soccer the same way that you find these fans acting silly towards Amr Diab.

Passion is also the reason why I am here answering your question. I am not Egyptian, I don't know any Egyptian personally, never been to Egypt but I read lots of stuff about your country and culture, I am trying (very hard) to learn your language, I am in this section almost every other day, I even endured the pain of getting a tattoo just to show my love for your country ;-)

It's good to hear though that you're interested more in Islam than other things. However, this is a great example of how complex human beings are and how each of us is a unique individual.

As Ismaily said: Passion!
Although some people can sometimes be *too* passionate or passionate about the wrong type of things, it doesn't affect you, so what does it matter?
All that matters is what you're passionate about and what you like. You cannot stress yourself and allow things such as another person's interest to get you!
It seems to me that you were really passionate about this topic which isn't even a real topic. With the time you spent writing this question you could have been doing something more productive with your time because i assure you my dear, those people texting msg's to Amr Diab are not worried or thinking of you!

You have some good answers here Ruby. However, this is not something new or particular to today's youth only. If you remember how some people reacted after the death of AbdilHaleem You'll know what I mean. Some people actually tried to commit suicide! I mean, I'm a huuuuuge fan of his, but I'd never do anything as dumb as that! It's not even restricted to our society only. Didn't you see what girls did with Elvis or the Beatles?! Pretty stupid I agree. And those people made real art, not like some of the empty headed idiots today who have silly girls swooning over them!

What always surprises me is that it is only actors, singers and soccer players who have crazy fans like that! I always enjoy thinking of funny alternative scenarios to some of the ridiculous questions we face in life like the one you just brought up. Imagine, for example, that Ahmad Zuweil had a lot of crazy fans like that. Wouldn't it be hillarious if every convention he attended had crowds of screaming girls shouting we love you Hamada and swooning all over the place?!! Instead of showering him with teddy bears and roses, they'd give him test tubes and lab equipment! The possibilities are endless!

I don't agree that we have no role models nowadays. The problem is that the media focuses on the wrong people putting them in the spotlight and creating false role models out of them. If scientists, scholars and religious figures got half the attention that is given to belly dancers and singers things would not be the way they currently are. What is really sad is that lots of those so called artists don't even have any real talent.

I'm sorry I've rambled on like this, but I have one last point to add. I don't believe in idolizing any public figure or role model like that no matter what. There is a difference between admiration and idolizing somebody to the extent of beeing blinded to all else. I particularly have AbdilNasser in mind when I say this. The way some people practically worship the guy to this day is really sickening to me. May Allah guide us all to what is best.

I completely agree with you & I am happy that there are ppl still think like that.
Did you watch movie "Awkat Faragh" أوقات فراغ it shows how much young ppl is lost they have no aims no ruls nothing at all.
finally I want tell Ismaily Rules that I agree with you that's passion but it doesnt meant that we should accept that or we can't refuse it because passion doesn't mean that's good.
The guy who take drugs has passion to Herioen so can I accept it that's because of respecting his passion!! messure many things like this at life & you will know that many of timebeing diseas done under name of passion.

mostly young people having identity crisis act silly....they seek role models to emulate...bad thing if this popular person is morally questionable.....so to those who are matured, they judge the lost souls to be silly....hope it's not permanent. Best path to follow is the established one...the hadith.

Why don't you turn off the tv, or change channel or stop reading the paper.

Let them live their life, and you continue with yours. If they are happy with that, is their decision and you can't change people.

Also, if they are not affecting, where is the problem?

Sorry, but it is reality.
