After dismissing the initial urge to roll your eyes, do you feel that they were a plausible occurrence? To ignore the infinite amount of possible life forms that have touched this planet in the billions upon billions of years it has been here would be completely idiotic and simple minded, yet most people dont comprehend how insignificant our tiny presence in the vastness of space and time truly is, and are stupidly ignorant in their arrogance of our self imposed supremacy over all the other forms of life within our reach........ such a pity..

It is not arrogant to think that this planet was of great interest to other beings... it is a beautiful planet full of amazing landscapes and seemingly endless resources, so the attraction is not at all surprising...... and the massive evolutionary leap from the beast-like mentality of the caveman, to intelligent architects, navigators, and astronomers with knowledge of the stars and planets that modern science has only recently started to discover, is a massive sign that we had been given this knowledge by source that had already navigated it...... The ancients already knew and spoke of the existence of the planet Eris, yet we, with all our technology and science only discovered it 2 years ago..... could it be, that we simply forgot all that we had been taught? Or maybe we turned the these astral beings into spiritual beings, and thus built the foundations of the origins of faith.....

Keep in mind, time and space are both infinite, and when dealing with the infinite, not only is the idea of intelligent life developing, navigating, and finding our planet a possibility, but it is in fact, a PROBABILITY..... and that is a basic fact of physic.... the length of time it would take for any life form to evolve into what we perceive to be conceivable for space travel, is completely relative, as Einstein would say, and would not matter......... the earth has been here far longer than 5 billion years my friend............

by the way....I'm not claiming this is evidence supporting the theory of being a fact, I am only interested in hearing thoughtful input of those open to the idea of this theory

When I first read Eric Von Daniken's books, I thought it was a crazy theory. Now I think it is probable. One reason I changed my mind is the "Fermi Paradox". Physicist Enrico Fermi proposed that the reasons we haven't heard from aliens are 1) they don't exist or 2) they visited us in the past.

I think it's plausible that ETs have been intervening in our history and may have engineered our species from our primate ancestors. The Australian cave paintings are the most chilling depictions of what may be alien visitors. The figures resemble the "greys" of abduction stories.

Humans were capable of building the Pyramids and other monuments. Maybe there was an Ice Age civilization like Atlantis or Lemuria. The Hindu Mahabharata depicts violent conflicts in the sky between flying machines that appear to be spacecraft. Descriptions of what may have been nuclear explosions are also noteworthy. These craft must have been either ET in origin or the product of an extraordinary imagination.

The last few thoughts in your paragraph are the very reason that I don't feel that Ancient Astronaut Theories are valid.

Earth is about 5 billion years old. The Universe is 15 billion years old. The Universe is huge. It would take time for an alien race to develop, and then develop intelligence, then develop the ability to travel at will through space. If the closest stars had life around them, we would almost surely have detected it somehow, so any highly intelligent alien races would come from far away. This takes time. Homo Sapiens are only 200,000 years old, and that is the scientific viewpoint.

Because we are so tiny in space, and because the amount of time the Universe has been in existence, the odds of an alien race developing from basic life forms, then developing intelligence and science, then developing the means to travel through space is very slim. If you were to shoot blindfolded at a target at the far end of a football field, your odds of hitting dead center in the bulls eye would be much, much higher than the odds of an alien race having found us in the last 5 billion years and us not knowing about it. Especially if they in any way had a hand in starting life or helping people, because in that case they would know where we live, and would almost surely contact us now that we're intelligent.

I find it much easier to believe (Occam's Razor) that the life of our species began here, and we haven't yet been visited by anyone. That's assuming other intelligent life is out there...

One of my responses to questions about others coming here in short is based on deductive reasoning and inductive reasoning. Concerning UFOs and abductions, either all of the stories are true, some of them are true, or none of them are true. With such a huge volume of them one would have to say some are true, and if that then go so far as to say a huge number are. And from the actual stories it makes one think that this planet has been the subject of a very lengthy and on-going research program, probably started before we were here as a species. I'm not a geneticist but from what I have read there still seems to be some big unknowns and holes in theory about the rise of our species. As of now I don't believe, on our own, we will be able to find the answer to the question of where we came from as a species. The proofs are old and turning to dust, and they are not getting younger. It doesn't help when the governments keep things from us, but for them, obviously, knowledge is power.

If we were to find that our genetic make-up was a manipulation somewhere down the line, I would not be surprised so much as I would be in awe. And if it were so then the source is obvious. I hate to feel though that this is a threatening thing as many modern reports lead one to believe. Like anyone who feels like this, we want to know now and we want contact if available. From the time when I was younger and I saw what might have been the depiction of a spaceship amidst ancient glyphs on then recently unearthed digs, I have always had the questions and nagging suspicions that have stayed with me and lured me on all these years. And there is a huge amount of material out there.

Darn good question. :)

There is a slight chance that it could have happened. The universe is vast, but it's also existed for more than five times as long as life has on our planet. That's a long enough time for life to have probably developed somewhere else. It's concieted to assume that we're alone. But it's also still sort of concieted to assume that an intelligent being would waste their time with Earth. I know I wouldn't.
From a more practical standpoint, using what everyone already knows:
The ancient mythology/literature that suggests something like this could have happened can be explained by several other occurences, but when you consider the vastness of the universe, it is a possibility.

I wouldn't put money on it, but I won't throw it out completely.

each and every physique might desire to cease being so boastful and ignorant to think of that we've been the only more suitable civilization in this Earth. even nonetheless there replaced into an Ice Age in basic terms before our time right here on earth, the Scientists say that existence might have existed in areas close to to the Equator. If stay have been present between 25,000 years right down to 10,000 years in the past, the persons present at that factor could have been a lot extra clever than us and then relatively more suitable technologically while in comparison with us. of direction, there have been historic astronauts, get actual. we are the only clever human beings to have ever existed.

I completely disagree with your assertions about the advancement of human civilisation. There is ample evidence to demonstrate a slow and steady evolution of ideas, culture and technology over the ages. Some times they have been lost and then rediscovered. To state that there can be no explanation for this progress other than resorting to aliens and such like is to belittle the achievements of thousands of great minds throughout the centuries and the toils of countless others.

And for the record, I believe that some UFOs are alien spacecraft. I just don't believe there is a jot of evidence to support your claim.

all their eveidance would have to have been destroyed by lava or something.

Think about it. Why would aliens spend a huge amount of technology, power, and resources to travel faster than the speed of light. (thats really not an easy thing to do) and come here and not try to impact the world? Like mining productions, architecture, knowledge, or even control and dominance. something would be here.

ok, I've heard that maybe they came her to colonize by leaving some sort of DNA on earth to encourage our evolution, and left to go do it again on another planet, and so on and so on,

but other than that,
I'm not buying the idea.

Possible - Barely, I wouldn't rule it out absolutely.
Plausible - Absolutely not.
Anyone capable of getting here would be capable of leaving a message, and would have been motivated to do so.
None has been found.
Von Danikens book was such a bad attempt to bend facts to fit a crack-pot theory that I threw it in the trash.
(Mostly, I pass books on, or keep them. - Thats how bad that particular book was. )

You're not asking me how I feel about ancient astronauts, you're telling me how I should feel about ancient astronauts.

Is it plausible? Sure. But science isn't built on plausible, it's built on empirical evidence and the evidence supporting UFOs, ancient astronauts, atlantis, and other theories surrounding the rise of ancient civilizations is extremely weak.

I'm not implying that it hasn't happened, but the scientific community hasn't seen enough enough evidence for it's existence to give it any credibility.
