What are the best coats for the winter?

THere is a factory that sells good coats, do you know the name?
I hear they have fur coats, anyone knows?

Around here (Northern Minnesota), a GOOD down parka, with a nice thick sweater is essential for the winter. In NYC, a nice heavy jacket will suffice as long as they have a warm hat and gloves or mitttens will be more than adequate. It all depends on the climate of the area, Actually Fashion furs are NOT very warm as they have no insulation for linings. Utilitarian furs, on the other hand usually have a down lining and TWO layers of fur (hair facing out and hair facing in, for added warmth.

For you cop lookin' types I'd would have to say real smooth and supple yet still sturdy black leather lined with real raccoon or beaver fur. How about a removable fur collar and a hood full of fur for those really cold days. Ooh and pockets big enough for some hand warmers.

Go to the Sportsman's guide on the search engine. They're in Minneapolis or St. Paul. They got everything from clothes to gear. All kinds of police and military stuff too CHEAP!

Try the Burlington Coat Factory if all else fails. I think they got 'em in NYC?

here in the Bay Area, a medium jacket will do for most of the time, bc it doesn't get that cold. I have a long brown sweater coat that I love, and a faux suede bombadier jacket that is my husband's but I wear it more than he does. I would guess that in NYC, you would need a really good wool coat and a parka. I hear it gets mighty cold there in the winter. True?
