~~~ Yes freesumpin,I do think there is a difference between the two. classic1957gal said it well,but I'll try to put it into my own words. I think....(By: By donelle g).....that with self-esteem it means you like yourself enough to have the confidence to try new things or experiences,and still like yourself even if you fail. Then you try again and again until you're happy with the results. And you can laugh at yourself and learn from your mistakes. Other people can see this quality in you and since it's true,it's a good trait. Self-confidence alone can be faked. People pretend to be braver than they are or cop an attitude that seems like self-confidence,when they're really scared or trying to fit in. And that's all I have to say,cuz I am quite confident that if I say anything further you'll find a ton of typos in it. LOL! ~~~
Though the two compliment each other, I think self-esteem is more about your inner feelings of self-worth, whereas self-confidence pertains more to achievement and goal related action.
:):) The term "self-esteem" involves one's mental perception of one's qualities, not of one's physical features. Whereas Self-confidence is a term used to describe how secure a person is in their own decisions and actions – which can be applied generally or to specific situations or tasks. :):)
