Take it, are there any other choices but yes? I mean what are the consequences here? Are you saying the lady is senile and shes willing to give away something of high importance which in her mind is just some junk? Well it is junk unless its worth something. You can learn a thing or two about material attraction from a senile lady. Family heirlooms are just junk, just clutter with a dumb story attached to it. If you can make away getting big bux from it which no other related **** would do I suggest doing so. I mean hell its just like wine, sooner or later it'll just become vinegar and be worth nothing man.

It is rude to refuse a gift, no matter what the circumstances. I would accept the gift, and after she passes away I would track down any children or grandchildren she may have and give it to them, telling them she gave it to you to hold onto and pass on to them after she passed away. If she has no family, then perhaps she sees you as the only family she has, and in that case, you should definately keep the gift and pass it down through your own family.
She is giving this to you because you have made her happy in some way or another. Accept the gift graciously, and make her feel like it means the world to you. That's all she wants, is to return the happiness that you have given her.

If they offer you a gift, it is best that you do not take it. She may not realize what she gives you and her family can accuse you of stealing. She may not even remember; if she has Alzheimer's or has gone senile. It's not worth the trouble.

turn it down she's probably just very old and wants to hand something off to somebody if she has no family. make sure that she knows its an heirloom and if she has another family member take it and give it to them because she may just be old and want to give something to you in appreciation. good luck

Well...I know that it is against the rules...so I would thank her and tell her this and then I would mention it to her family.

Do not take it, refuse with good grace. What if she forgets she gave it to you and thinks you stole it?
