The iPod is the most widely purchased MP3 player and certainly has the biggest reputation. When people think of MP3 players, the iPod tends to come to mind first.

Here are some pros and cons of the iPod-

==================

The Pros of the iPod

*Easy-to-Use Interface - The iPod's combination of simple the clickwheel and clear onscreen software makes it a snap to use out of the box.

*Best Software Integration - The iPod/iTunes connection makes managing the music on both the iPod and your computer almost effortless.

*Great Hardware - The hardware that is used to make the iPod is high quality, durable, and stylish.

*Best Online Store - The iTunes Store is far and away the best online store for filling your MP3 player to the brim with great music, movies, TV shows, podcasts, games, and audiobooks. No other online store offers as many choices or deals as good.

*Constant Innovation - Apple regularly adds new features to iTunes, the iTunes Store, and the iPod's software, giving you new content and capabilities all the time.

*Selection - With the three different iPod models, there's an iPod for every need and budget.

*Cool Factor - Even after all these years, the iPod is still the coolest MP3 player on the market. And everyone likes to be cool, yes?

*If you get an iPod video, you have the freedom to watch anything you want like videos or movies in high quality on your iPod. You'd never be bored in situations where you have to wait for long at some place (like the airport) or when your travelling or standing in queue for something.

====================

The Cons of the iPod

*Higher Price - Apple products generally cost more than their competitors. Fans would say that the price is justified by the better hardware, software, and experience. That may not make much difference to your bank account, though.

*Battery Life - This is less of a concern now than it was with the first few generations of iPods, but battery life has not always been as good as it should have been on the iPod.

*Non-Replaceable Battery - Compounding this problem, the customer can't replace the iPod's battery, as it requires taking the iPod apart. This can lead to either dead iPods or needing to pay for a battery replacement.

*Apple DRM - Content at the iTunes Store uses Apple's digital rights management technology to prevent unauthorized sharing. Thought this DRM isn't as restrictive as some, many people still don't like it.

==================

Well, the pros outweigh the cons. If you're a music lover, then you should definitely get an iPod.

Avoid the iPod line. They are over-rated and over-priced. Just because they are the most popular doesn't make them the best. if you look around here the number of problems with them and iTunes just isn't proportional to the number of problems that the other players have. They just aren't as dependable as Apple would have you think they are. A major flaw is that they freeze up and the only way to fix it is to send it to Apple and have them fix it. This is not the definition of dependability. As for the "cool factor" that's just a product of Apple's marketing department and the flocks of mindless sheep that buy into the hype. I personally don't look at someone using an iPod and think they're cool, I look at them and think there's another idiot. Also look at the features that other players have standard but an iPod has to have addons to have. Things like a radio, voice recording, and an alarm clock an iPod has to have an addon for but quite a few others have as standard. Just think about this, a player that already has these features from another brand may cost you US$100 for a 2gb model, while a 2gb Nano when you factor in the costs of the addons needed to get the same features will cost you well over US$200 and probably closer to US$250. You will be much better served buying one of the players from the likes of Creative, Cowon, Samsung, Sandisk, or a Zune than you will by buying an iPod. My advice to you and anyone else is to avoid iPods like the plague.

Reasons To Get An iPod:
• Almost all people use iTunes as their music player cause' its the greatest thing. And iTunes is free, easy, simple, and really well put together. What makes it more cool is there is the iPod where you can sync it with.

• It really works great on Mac. So if you are a Mac user, better think of getting an iPod.

• It has a lot, I mean a lot of accessesories. One of the reasons people buy them cause' they have a lot of accessories, so it is very trendy.

• A whole iPod collection to choose from the iPod video to the iPod shuffle, don't forget the iPods nano's cool range of different colors.

• The design just look at the design, it's simple, elegant, and cool. From the cool iPod video to the thin-and-sleek iPod nano to the cute-small iPod shuffle. Not like the other posers, like the fat-and-thick creative zen or whatever and the stupid design of other mp3 players.

• Who cares about the radio or the recording function! Just buy one for your iPod no big deal!

• iTunes allows people to purchase and transfer music with ease.

• It can play the unique and successor of mp3's AAC (mp4 audio or AAC has way better sound than mp3 and its is small in memory space).

• And just to let you know Apple has sold over 100 million iPods, so that says something about how good it is.

Hope this helps...

Yes, you should iPod, but there is one thing you should be concerned about. The current iPods have been out for a while, and it seems like it is almost time for Apple to release a new one. Don't make the mistake I did which is fork out hundreds of dollars for an iPod, and then one week later, Apple puts out a newer, better model. No returning it, no exchanging it, because the package was already open, and my songs were already loaded onto it. I was $h1t outta luck. So what did I do? Yup, I bought the newer one also. Apple screwed me outta $400, because if they had announced that a new iPod was about to be released, I would have waited & bought the newer one. Do so at your own risk.

I love my Shuffle. The other mp3 player that is good in my experience is the Rio. The mp3 freedom is unparalleled at this time. You can download songs you love and you needn't ever worry about buying an entire cd for a few songs.

The portability of the units is the other selling point. If you like to jog or stay active, they are so easy to tuck in a pocket or strap onto your belt. It is hard to imagine wanting to stick to the cd player or just listen to what some dj wants to play. . .
