Im about to go to college in a day (Thursday), and Im really worried about it. From being on the campus all Ive seen are beautiful people frolicking. I feel as if I won't be able to make friends and enjoy it, as I am not really as hot as these people. Plus Im barely packed and jsut not ready. How can I get over this. What should I do.

People in college are not as shallow as they were in high school. You won't have a problem making friends as long as you are willing to put yourself out there and make an effort to meet people. People gravitate towards confident people who seem genuinely interested in others so don't feel like your not as "beautiful". Just be comfortable with who you are, because that is also another admirable trait.

About the packing... Dont stress too much, because if you live close enough to school then you can go back on a weekend and pick up all the things that you forgot about. Plus, you won't know exactly what you need in college until you actually get to school and start living on your own.

Freshman year was one of the best years of my life, but I totally attribute it to being involved in a school organization. For instance, I'm Christian so I joined a Christian fellowship... Getting plugged into a good community such as a school organization will help you make friends and keep you busy. So choose something that your interested in and find a school org that has a group of people that are interested in the sames things that you are. Its a good place to start!!

college is REALLY scary. you just kind of have to relax and let things come in time. you'd be really surprised at how easy it becomes to meet people once you start being less shy and taking the initiative.

if you're really worried, try getting involved in campus activities... there are always tons of clubs and programs that you can join, and they'll put you in with people that have the same interests as you do!

if you don't feel like being social, just try focusing on school. the first semester is the most important, because it's when you form all of your habits for the next four years. if you concentrate on just passing your classes, you might be surprised at how comfortable you feel your second semester!

good luck. college is really fun once you get over the whole overwhelming fear thing. ;)

Hey, I am in the same boat as you. I also am leaving Thursday. The thing is we have this orientation thing for four days. Kinda juvenile to sit around and play name games in my opinion. I also am not too strong with meeting new people and making friends. Also I am barely packed as well.

Anyways, what I am trying to do is think that everyone there pretty much will be in the same situation I am. They are new. And probably scared. You are not really alone, try to find someone drifting on their own and bring up how you feel about this situation and together you can work this out. Good luck! And wish me good luck also.

The frolicking may stop when classes start, and somehow the beautiful people seem less beautiful when they are studying for math classes. You'll be fine. You just have last-minute jitters, which is perfectly normal.

The very first thing that you can do to get over your nervousness and your ineptness is to have a positive mental attitude. You are who you think. Don't think that they are more beautiful or more charismatic than you. You have to have the confidence to go up to someone and start a conversation. Never be shy!
