How the show's final episode ended made me more confused! The show her enjoying dinner with her family and friends as she explains what really happened in their lives. Jackie (her sister) is really gay rather than her Mom. Darlene is really with Mark and Becky is really with David (the opposite was true on the show), and Dan died when he had his first heart attack.

Does this mean that Jackie never went with Fred and that they never had Andy together? Does this mean that Baby Jerry was never born? Does this mean that Darlene didn't marry David, Dan didn't have a heart attack then, and that Harris Conner Healy was never born? Did everything change the day that they built her the writing room?

HELP!!! I know the show ended forever ago, but I'm still boggled by this one!

Thanks for the help. I'm happy to see that I'm not the only one who's confused on this one. I agree that towards the end it got VERY anti-male, but I had to keep watching it because I started watching way back when it first came out. Normally I hate shows that put down men like that! :-(

I've simply decided to ignore the last part of that episode. In my world, Roseanne's monologue simply doesn't exist. I like the ending, with all of them sitting around the table, being happy. This is how I want to remember them.

On the other hand one *has* to admit that her monologue does explain some of the weird and crazy things that happened in the last season of Roseanne. I mean the episode where they were all on the train? And Dan cheating on Roseanne? Or that they won at the lottery? Come on ... Still, I'd enjoyed watching Roseanne many many years, and this monologue turned everything upside down. I didn't like that, so: for me the monologue never happened. ::nods::

I interpreted it to be that the entire storyline (all seasons) were part of a book Roseanne was writing, and none of the storylines we watched over the years, actually happened. The truth came out on the last episode. It definitely was creative, but I miss the show. I still watch it on Nick at Nite. If the series were based on this premise, it would be hard to have a reunion show, but that would be so cooooool.

How I intrepreted the ending to mean is that the entire show--from season one to the end was the figment of Roseann's writing. Dan did have a heartattack and die, but it was at Darlene's wedding to Mark that it happened at. It was a very different way to end a series, but very creative.

I'm sorry I never really liked that show. All they ever did was bash men, portray is as morons who should be happy to have fat over weight unattractive women run our lives.
