My brother's name is Gavin (my favorite brother out of 3) My husband and I love that name. Is it wrong to name our son that? I know my mom and him would be honored if we did.

No, that's not wrong at all in fact its a wonderful thing to do. I don't think there is any better way for you to honor your brother and show him just how much he means to you than to bestow his name on your child. Gavin is an awesome name by the way, I love it.
If you need any more convincing I'm thinking about naming my son Marleon, pronounced mar-lun, which is a combination of my brothers' names (Leon and Mark).
I think its a great idea. Good luck with everything and congratulations.

At first, my brother was the only Daniel in the family. He was born when I was 17. Then about 6 years later, I named my 2nd son after him. Then about 8 years later, my sister named HER first boy after him! So if you love the name, of course it's not wrong if it makes you happy!

My husband and I are planning on naming our 2nd daughter after my sister (if we have 2 girls), so I'd say you can name your son after brother. I would suggest asking him first. I'm sure he'd be honored, but just out of respect, in case he wanted to name his own son that.

Yea for babies and wonderful siblings!

If you have only one son, you may name him Gavin if you want to ... but if you have three sons, you had better give the other two your other brothers' names ... use them as the 'middle names' if you want (say you should have done that the first time, but you didn't know any better to 'soothe their feelings').

I say go for it. Nothing wrong with naming your son after him. But, please don't spread the word that he is named after your favorite brother......it might cause some hard feelings.
Use it as a first name or as the middle name.

Sounds great. Maybe there can be a nickname to distinguish between Uncle Gavin and your son. Gavvy? Gav?

Not a thing wrong with it! My family has a ton of " names after's " in it. Including myself , sister, and brother. Go ahead and honor your special brother.

Sure, if you both like the name. I don't see a problem with it and I like kids named after family members then when someone asked who are you named after you can tell them a family member. I also really like the name. Good Luck!

Well if your brother has a son he may want to name his son that. Maybe you could make it the baby's middle name.
