I too read it just to see what all the fuss was about. I thought it was a good story, but poorly written. A shame since I think it had some real potential. Something about the way it was written was very simplistic and amateur.

After reading Deception Point and Angels and Demons, I was looking forward to a great novel in Code but was I disappointed. The movie was as horrible as the book. Tom Hanks should have taken a pass on that one.

I started reading it just because everybody said it was so great. I read about 75 pages and quit because it sucked. It was like a goosebumps book or something with all the obvious cliffhanger chapter endings and sterotypical thrill attempts. Written for the masses, not real literature. The movie sucked too

I didn't read the book, but the movie was bad enough. It was just so boring and pointless. I think I had about 3 or 4 visits to the toilet and snackbar, just to get away for a while. My brother asked me to go with him, or else I probably would have just left.

it is a "lite" take on a very very very deep subject....God, Christ and women's role in society among others...!
as for some of the points brought up such as the upheaval of Europe in the years 300's, religious zealots, the adaptation and censures of Books out of the modern New Testament, etc, all that is real, which then leaves it up to each one of us to do detective work to figure out what the Truth really is...!
did Christ have a wife?, is modern Christianity following His real teachings or just the manipulation of the religious leaders that came after Christ...?
who knows!
as for me, that this movie/book has made me think about these things and has made me reevaluate all my believes is a sign that it was a good time spent.

It was absolutely atrocious! It makes me sad - and a bit nauseous - that so many people enjoy Brown's writing, and it angers me to listen to people applause his "originality." The legends of Mary Magdalene and the Holy Grail are centuries old. And let's not mention the historical inaccuracy.

Nope ... not me. What I saw was a lot of jealous authors who used any excuse to put it down because it wasn't them on the top of the leader board for over a year. Yes, the movie was horrible. But the book wasn't. The green eyed monster isn't becoming. There was most certainly no juvenile prose. It wasn't the greatest book I ever read but it was entertaining and a good read. Loosen up your cilice dear. your jealousy is showing. Pax - C
Let me tell you somethng I was told by my top NYC publisher. When asked to tell an agent or a publisher about your book, compare it to the Da Vinci Code and watch how their ears perk up. It made Doubleday a virtual fortune. Somebody read it and enjoyed it.

Didn't see the movie. I thought the book was decent but not memorable and certainly not worthy of the hype.

I thought it was dreadful. But if someone else can find something enjoyable in it, that's fine by me. I just don't particularly like Fiction Lite (TM).
