The best fix is to have the ignition lock replaced. Assuming that you can still turn the lock with the broken piece in it you can drive it to your local shop and they can replace the ignition lock for around $100 give or take a few dollars.
The repair only takes about an hour and the new ignition lock comes with two new keys. I wouldn't recommend spending any money on the old, broken ignition lock as this will occur over and over again and cost you more money than if you have it repaired right the first time.
Good Luck!

If you have tried everything to pry it out with you will have to pull the steering weel, locking plate, turn signal and any other switch that might be in the way of the ignition housing. once you get to the ignition housing there a pin that you push and the entire ignition switch will come out.
But before you do that I would drive it to a lock smith because they have a special tool to get broken keys out with.
Sincerely yours,
Fred M. Hunter

Magnets don't work, keys are brass or aluminum. The only chance is with two sharp dental picks, one on each side, press into the brass and pry outward gently. If not replace the lock and tumbler.
Everyone should check their keys right now for cracks, I just checked mine.

I once used an old trick, for getting buried ticks, off of hunting dogs.
Take a piece of stout broom straw and put a dot of super glue on it. Then being careful, put the end of the straw, with the glue on the broken key. Try to only touch the broken key, nothing else.
Pull the broken key out slowly and that should do it.

keep trying. it aint gonna walk out while your inside, get out there boy.
Get some tweezers, needle nose pliers, one of those magnets meant for picking up tools that drop into your car when your working under the hood... that should be stronger then most household magnets...
if you cant get it out ur gonna hafta buy yourself another ignition switch and then get it replaced... doesnt sound like a fun use of part of a paycheck, but hey... thats just me.
Good luck and NEVER say 'never' ...
