I was under the weather the past 2 days. My throat and nose just started to clear yesterday afternoon.

How many of you got the cold or coughing or fever due to the bad weather? Or is it just me and my weak resistance to these elements?

biologically its impossible to get the cold, cough or a fever solely based on weather. The cold is a contagious virus, cough is generally caused by something in the air that makes your airways want to get rid of and fever is caused from a multitudes of things. Fever can be almost anything, its an increase in bodily temperature that can lead to a lot of different diseases.

The only thing that I know for a fact that can be caused by the weather is in cold weather, if you stay out too long you can get hypothermia or pneumonia. And for hot weather you could get a heat stroke, skin cancer(sun exposure) or dehydration.

Edit: Also! gloomy weather i.e cloudy day. that blocks out the sun can get you depressed since its blocking sunlight which gives you endorphins which are hormones (I think?) that makes you happy!

Oddly I do not get sick during cold weather. But as to how the heavy rains have affected me - three days of no school means we have too many make up classes and the school term will likely be extended. Drats.

Yeah, it's kinda strange too. When I was in the Philippines I always got colds and flu whenever its "time of the month" for me. Whilst I am here in the middle of the desert considering its very hot most of the time, I only get sick ocassionally when it's my "time".

it's the sudden change of weather that affects the health of most people. yes poor immune system is also a cause for coughs and colds...

Oh, I really hope that you're feeling better by now.

As for myself, I feel relatively ok, save for the rawness of my feet. Walking in heels, in flooded streets, is horrible.

i am lucky to hardly ever be sick. I am lucky to always be in the same environment, and away from the general public, where most of the germs seem to love to hang out.
