My top 4 lists are:
Final Fantasy VII AC Soundtrack, by Nobuo Uematsu. It brings a mixed feelings from heart-pounding mood, to calmness, as well as suspense.
Rurouni Kenshin premium collection soundtrack, by Noruyuki Asakura and Taro Iwashiro. Their CD 2 brings the mood of tense battle from the memories of the listener who've seen the anime. The instruments used to produce are a mixture of traditional Japanese and modern instruments.
Gundam SEED Destiny Symphony (also known as Symphony SEED Destiny) produced by Toshihiko Sahashi and performed by London Symphony Orchestra. Very nice mood of patriotism in space. Very military-like theme sort of music.
Kingdom Hearts 2 original soundtrack, by Yoko Shimomura, arranged by Kaoru Wada and performed by the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. Many mixture of mood from happy-go-lucky themes to the deep mystery mood kind of feel when hearing it.
People rarely appreciate orchestra these days, so this is some of them I recommend for those anime fans who started to go in depth for understanding of orchestra.
