Everytime i go to the doctors my mom and her husband watch my daughter. And recenlty i have discovered that she does not want baby food, they have given her fish, chicken...our kind of food. is it normal? can she handle it? since she doesnt want to eat baby foods now that she is used to table foods, should i continue on it with her myself? im afraid it might be bad for her or is it just me because this is my first child? and she seems so "greedy" everytime i turn around she is reaching for food or just wants it because someone else has it..But she has eaten a full meal and has had juice and such and im pretty sure she is full....what is wrong with her??? im aggitated and i dont know what to do help?!?

Yep, it is normal.
Actuallly a baby can surrive on breast milk or formula the first year. Some babies take to food quickly, others don't.
My boys were finikie about what they ate. I used to joke and say that my daughter would eat a bowl of nails if I put it in front of her. (just joke) But, she liked everything, It was very easy to find foods she could and would eat. My boys would of been on the bottle until high school if they could.
Also the amount of teeth determins what a baby eats. Some babies don't get teeth until they are a year old. Others start at three months.
It sounds like your baby enjoys big people food. I would be cautious of how much she gets and keep her from highly spiced of odd foods. Remember you can't give a baby honey the first year of life.
If your baby is alright after eating at your parents , then she can handle it. Still remember she is only 9 months old.
Be sure you are watering down the juice she is drinking.
She sounds like a good healthy baby. Enjoy her. Also, you are the mother not your parents. , so if you don't like them feeding her table food or certian foods then you tell them so.
You are the mom now.

My 7 month old prefers table foods and I still feed him some baby foods but mostly he eats table foods as he's ready. It's ok especially for a 9 month old.
She's not greedy she is growing. She may just want to taste what others want. Don't keep a child from eating. IT will lead to problems in the future. They will quit eating when they're full

I wouldn't worry too much about her not liking the baby food but I think you should talk with your mom about what you do want her to have. Your daughter is old enough that she can have most veggies, fruits, bread and legumes. Be sure to keep her away from milk until she is 1yr old because it can be hard on her digestive track. Also dint introduce any citrus fruit or juice to her until she is 1 yr old. She can have apple and grape of course but make sure you dilute it with water because it can affect her teeth before they grow in. Cheese is always a winner with my niece. I think I would wait a little longer before giving her fish or eggs on a regular bases but most 'table foods' are OK. Just remember that her taste buds are much stronger than an adults so she doesn't need the sauces and seasoning that us adults love. Also make sure to cut her food into bite size pieces and watch her so that she doesn't choke. Before I forget if she is still on formula or being breast fed than I would five her that first before I give her here solid foods. As long as she is getting her formula than she should be getting the nourishment she needs from that. Good Luck and God Bless!

yes its ok i asked the doctor for the last month or so my 9 mo. old son will only eat table food I try babyfood every once in a while and he will only take about 3 bites then he's done but he will eat the heck out of table food (our food). I'm not sure that fish would be to good for your daughter though because they say not to give children under 16 months tuna because of the murcury. Also absolutly NO HUNEY because it could make her really sick.

As long as she's eating the normal table food ok, it's just fine for her. Just make sure the texture is good for her to chew and swallow. It has the same nutrients as baby food so she'll be great. It'll also save you a lot of money from having to buy baby food. :) Do watch out for the things the person above me suggested to wait on until she's a little older.

She is hungry not greedy. Babies learn what to eat by copying their mothers. If you do not eat baby food, why should she? Most things you eat, she can if they are made smaller. Avoid junk food.
9 months NO FISH! The American Academy of pediatrics has a list of foods and ages to protect against allergies:
Eggs = 12 months
Cow milk 12 months or later
Honey 12 months (deadly for babies see link below)
Fish = 15 months
Peanut Butter = age 5
Shell fish (shrimp etc) age 3
Wait on wheat as well, use rice cereal
Choking hazards: popcorn and nuts of any kind (age 3)
Eat healthy and share whatever you eat with your baby.

If she is eating table food (of course in very small pieces) and seems satistied then it is fine. My second daughter wouldn't touch baby food so she went straight to table food at about 9 months. Of course I was very careful with meat, but vegatables, potatoes etc are easily handled by most babies. She is also just getting very curious about what you are eating, it is normal for them to watch you eat and to want to eat it too. This is all very normal.

Totally normal. My son discovered early on he liked "adult" food much better then anything that came with a baby label. Just be sure that it's small enough to not choke on and is easily mashed up.
They like seasoned food over that bland baby food for sure!

That is normal, be careful of bones and cut up her meals very fine otherwise the baby could choke. I would suggest to talk to the Doctor at what your parents are doing and get his advise or ring a new mother's clubs in your area.

my niece stopped wanting baby food at 6 months. babies tell you when they want regular food, just like when she told you she wanted baby food instead of formula. remember that? if your daughter wants regular food, give it to her. you can easily make healthy food for her, like baked chicken and veggies. if she has teeth, she doesn't really need baby food anymore. i know what you're going through though. i am a first time mom with a four month old little girl. remember one important thing. YOU are her mom, YOU know best. don't let anyone go against your wishes when it comes to taking care of your child.
