I am attempting to attach a Dynatron P33G cooler to an Intel DQ965GF motherboard (Socket LGA775 type), and it seems impossible, though both claim to be compatible with one another. The X-shaped mount doesn't even come close to touching the holes on the motherboard, and even then, nothing came with the cooler or motherboard to actually keep the cooler attached to the motherboard. There are no screw threads or anything. What am I missing here?

The X shaped thing is the supporting backplate. Its insulated side should face the backside of the motherboard. If there are no screws just like the stock Intel cooler, it is most like a push-pin type of fastener. OR maybe like the ASUS VR Guard, spring loaded screws are integrated with the cooler.
