Since in the last couple of weeks we have recall after recall of products made in China?

I think a "Made in the U.S.A." only store franchise would make Billions!

Society fought for so many years to get U.S. manufacturing to adhere to standards and regulations and safety practices...........now we have to start all over again!

I just watched Nightline and they had a segment where they had a doctor who said that children exposed to the lead in the paint of some children's toys coming out of China can have irreversible brain damage with only a months exposure!!
That's shocking that we have to go through this again!
We addressed this issue in the late 70's early 80's and made all of U.S. manufacturers stop using lead paint in these products!
How is this happening again!

If you have any of these products please have your children's blood tested.
It's a simple blood test.

I have not spent one penny at Wal-mart in over 12 years......Does anybody else also avoid Wal-mart at ALL cost too?

Now come on, Do we really need to buy a DVD player for 29 dollars and do we really need one in EVERY room in our house?

I probably would. Not only because of the Chinese recalls, but we would be outsourcing less jobs overseas. I already buy a made in America product over a Chinese product if I can help it. A store franchise would just make it easier, which would be nice.

My wife and I own a small shop and thought about doing that exact thing. Problem is, there are not enough products on the market to sell only "Made in the U.S. of A."

Cheap imports have driven U.S. Manufactures out of business or to ‘outsource’ the manufacturing of their products.

It's the trust thing again....who do we trust? Just because the package says "Made in U.S.A.", what about the parts within? And just because a product is made in America, is it completely safe? I don't know. I think too many people rely on products to entertain kids. My kids didn't have much toys...besides baseball bats/mitts, balls, books, skates, bikes, oh and board games. I think we should just throw out all the toys and not purchase any more and see how kids will learn to entertain themselves with just dirt, rocks, sticks, old jars, a net, etc.

No, but that's because I live in Australia.

In any case, China will continue to increase its dominance in the manufacturing sector. Some suggest that China is not a technologically advanced country and that it is only cheap labor that disadvantages the US.

That is wrong.

The quality of Chinese manufacturing is getting better not worse. For example the Chinese are highly skilled in the area of precision instrument making. Whether the US, or even the EU for that matter, will continue to compete with the Chinese remains to be seen.

That would be great if it were 100% from cradle to shelf. Imagine US manufacturing plants opening again.

edit: Good friend "mel" above doesn't realize that Nike already charges $150 a pair for shoes that cost them $5 to make and ship.

There is a web site for locating brands still made in the US.
But there is no store that I know of.

Depends on the merchandise. I would like to buy only made in the US products, but there has to be some quality standard.

Of course, anything from the US and Japan, has very high quality standards.

Definitely not. I try to avoid any products made in the USA. I won't give a single dollar to a country that will use that dollar to buy bullets, missile parts, explosives etc to use to kill people I have never met and never known - and all for oil profit.
