no...actually i went straight to the zoo's website. And I don't think I would be dissappointed because I know what it takes to care for them...lots of love, compassion, respect, and hard work. And lots of cleaning up poo. I don't mind at all because animals are very beautiful (yet very dangerous at the same time and are always able to attack)

It would all depend on your past work experience as well as your educational background.

If you have no college education (two or four year degree) and have no exotic animal care background (unless it was a job in the petting zoo) I would say that your chance is slim to none.

When there are keeper openings at good zoos the number of resumes they get is insane. We have two keeper spots open right now and the stack is a mile high.

It would all depend on if you meet the requirements for the position. What zoo was the position at?

To the person above me saying that you would be let down. Not even close buckaroo.

Was looking at this occupational info primarily for Australia though the job descriptions are more multinational. Calling it an animal technician then a sub-field of zookeeper. Obviously you used monster.com or careerbuilder.com or one of those.

A zoologist would want to go to large national parks to look for work or apply at the U.S. Fish and Game Reserve, or The Department of Agriculture perhaps. Maybe The Department of the Interior may have a use for scientists. Also looking into private research facilities and laboratories where someone has a government grant. Mostly the downtown area of any large city until you find the right place for their human resources headquarters, or use the phone book.

Good thing is there are countless zoos so just go in there in person and ask to speak to human resources regarding your on-line application for a follow up.

I would doubt it. They usually get plenty of applications for such jobs. Someone with experience or education would get in before you.

Here's a little warning. If you are an animal lover, don't get a job working with animals. You'll be very much disappointed.
