Because the tuba and accordion combo just doesn't have that "shagalicious" quality as does a fine saxaphone.
Well, unless maybe it's a sex scene with two obese Germans slathered in gravy and sauerkraut....ewww....

The only thing I can think of is because the word "sax" kind of looks like the word "sex". So I guess people think they go together. And of course the sax would sound better than, I don't know, bagpipes or something. Maybe they could play the trumpet. THAT would be interesting! Like: TaDA! lol

Many many years ago the sax was considered an instrument of the heathens who frequented the Jazz clubs and coffee houses, engaged in socially unacceptable behavior and openly LIKED sex [shameful!!!]. It became the musical talisman of the liberation of the sensual expression of the joy of sex .
Today it's a much more mainstream instrument.
