I put an octane booster addative in my car and my check engine light came on about 20 minutes later. I added the instructed amount. I have a scanner to check it but cannot find the connection

the data link connector on the 98 Prelude is behind the center console on the lower right side. if you're sitting in the passenger seat it would be to the left of your left foot. there should be a snap-on plastic extension to the console that hides the connector. That panel should just pull off and you'll see the connector behind it.

The check engine light after a fuel system cleaning is typically caused by a misfire when the fuel additive burns unequally. If you get a misfire code P0300-P0304 you can just clear the code and reset the light.

Adding onto what Terrance said. Take off the gas cap and put it back on tight after a minute or so. THEN, disconnect the negative side of the battery for a minute, then reconnect it. 98% of the time, the light will go out and stay out. Did this on my 2001 Civic and also on my 1997 Accord over the last year and the lights never came back on. O yea, and it only came on due to the fact my 18 year old daughter put gas in the car. Need I say more?

1996 and up are all OBDII. They all have a plug thats under the dashboard (driver side)

check in your car under you steering wheel you should see it on the left or right side. you might have to remove some panels to get to it
