I get more than enough stars in my regular questions, so it's not a case of me star-mongering.

I can't stand the Yankees, but Phil Rizzuto was a class act, a real winner, and a distinctively colorful baseball announcer after his retirement.

Here's to you., Scooter.

It's like a part of my childhood died.

I used to love Scooter, Bill White & Frank Messer together on WPIX as a kid... "Holy Cow, White! I need to get my eyes examined."

And let's not forget... "This is Phil Rizzuto for the Money Store."

I had the privilege of growing up in central New Jersey. I grew up listening to Scooter & White, Bob Murphy, Ralph Kiner, Harry Kalas & Richie Ashburn.

Scooter, Murph & Whitey are all gone now.

Oh man, Rizzuto was an all around good guy. Overcame all odds, people said he was too short to play baseball, then once he made it he would never make the Hall of Fame, proved everybody wrong, and will be remembered forever. Great player, great broadcaster, great guy. He lived a great life.

RIP Scooter.

I'm a Sox fan, but will agree Scooter was a great shortstop and announcer.

As a tribute to him I listened to Meatloaf's Paradise by the Dashboard Light.
I'm sure you youngsters out there are going what does Meatloaf have to do with Scooter. Listen to the song and in the middle of it is a partial baseball broadcast by Scooter.

I loved Scooter.

It was such a sad loss.

I asked some of my friends ''Do you think Rizzuto dying will make the front cover of the paper?'' They all said no.

Well now i'm laughing because it has made the cover of almost every New York Paper.
