Im suppose to gather data of real gdp for the past years.

and, the data i get is per quarter in a year. thus, should I add the all 4 quarters to get the RGDP in a year. or just extract the last quarter (which is december) of the RGDP?

GDP last year was about 11 trillion dollars. I am not sure what data you are looking at but often economic statistics are reported as a quarter number X four to transform it into a yearly rate so the answer would be sum/4 of the four quarters. In any case make sure what you do gives an answer near 11 trillion.
