No you're not considered unfit, but you aren't really looked at as an upstanding member of society.

actually, in terms of the law (im a law student), a single mother who works as an exotic dancer does counted as unfit to be a mother. this is because the single parents is responsible to nurture and show a good example to her child(s). So does a single parents who is a drug addict or on phychothic medications etc. (there are many more)
if you are a single mother, i think its best for you to NOT consider taking up such jobs (stripper, exotic dancers, prostitution etc) even thought it pays alot (and u surely need the money) because it will just put your parental rights at stake. This could be use against you (if your husband is thinking of having full custody of the children by claiming u are unfit to be a mother as u cant show good example to them). The last thing u want as a mother is having your darling children taken away by your ex-husband or the welfare department.
Im sure you are a great mother and you would do anything to make ends meet for the sake of your children...all mothers in the world does that dear (and irespect mothers alot)...but pls, do take into consideration on what i have adviced you. There are plenty more jobs around available to hlp single parents now days..
good luck to you dear!
hope this helps

Once upon a time it was concidered degrading to be an exotic dancer, but times have changed. Woman have danced to supplement their income,as well as to raise money for college tuition. What is unfit about it,is when they start sleeping around with the patrons. Never mix business with pleasure, because now were talking prostitution.

No of course not. Even if your an exotic dancer doesn't mean your not a good or unfit mother. And it's a legal profession. As long as your showing all your love to your kids and all that your not unfit at all.

I've known quite a few women who have become strippers over the years, especially during my college years and yes, within a short time, they all became unfit parents. Although they all started out with the best of intentions, things seemed to "get out of control" once they entered that world. None of them could hold onto the large amounts of money that seemed to always slip through their fingers and all but one ended up with addiction problems.
In their honest moments, they would admit that they had done more than strip for money on more than one occasion. The lifestyle seems to just drag a person down...even if they start off with the very best of intentions. And remember, the assumption is always that your body is for sale.
I think a judge would be more impressed with someone who worked hard as a waitress -- even for less money -- than a stripper. I would think that although you might NOT be unfit, you would constantly be watched and any mistake would make it all that much easier for your children to be taken away.

You are paying the bills and right now it's probably the best you can do. No matter if you picking up horse poop, or driving trucks you are still giving your kids what they need and want? It's like in soccer you have kick some people down before you can make a goal. The only thing to be worried about is when they get older, It might have a bigger affect then it does right now. But for the most part your doing good!

the exotic dancer alone does not make you unfit. frequently, drug use and other "illicit" activities seem to tag along with the whole exotic dancing thing. everything starts off good, but it just goes down hill. The drugs and other illicit activities could get you deemed unfit.

Im a teacher and i know some lawyers that are unfit parents and some doctors who cant tell when their child is sick and military people who cant dicipline a 2 year old. dedication is all that matters and as long as you provide them with a safe home and lots of love your job shouldn't matter we all like to judge but at the end of the day I could one day become a bad parent

it's weird that you say that, because plenty of mothers do stuff like that to provide for their children, they have to choose between that, or not having a home or food or anything, but because Brittney Spears is famous she is under the public eye all of the time, so now she is being considered an unfit mother, but i wonder how many poeple do that, that also have young children.

As a single mom you do what you need to do to put food on the table, however I wouldn't consider doing it for a extended period of time, it's not a job that most kids would want their mother to do.

Although it is not a profession that people think is a worthy one..You are doing what you need to support your child so that in it's self make you a fit parent. As long as your job stays at the work place..Being a dance does not make you an unfit parent.
