Where can I see what kind of motherboard I have without having to open the computer case?

CPUZ or Everest could tell you the model and chipset type but not the specs or ATX size. Use the info in Google to find out more details.

BIOS - press F2 (sometimes F12) immediately when the system starts up. If you have an Intel motherboard, you can download the chiputil.exe program from Intel - it tells you a lot about chipsets (including memory, graphics, and I/O).

On Windows XP - Start - Accessories - System Tools - System Information will tell you a few things, like the BIOS string.

There may be a WMI item that you can query, but I am not sure about that. For WMI scripts, look at the scriptcenter on Microsoft Technet.

Different mobo manufacturers store the mobo info in very different ways. Sometimes a PC seller may not want to give away that it is using an ASUS, MSI or Intel mobo.

You can download a free program called PC wizard which can tell you alot of information about your computer that you may not know...i hope that helps
