Lowering Drinking Age & what are your opinions on it?

I think if you are old enough to die for the country you should be old enough to have a drink.

in fact:
an eighteen year old can vote for the president of the United States and play a part in selecting one of the most influential leaders of the free world,

can buy and smoke cigarettes, fill the lungs of himself and those around him with black cancer causing tar

go to combat and fight for each of these rights as well as the other rights of the citizens (legal and non-legal) of this country

Legal age of consentual sex in many states is 16 and does not go above 18 anywhere in the U.S. (that I know of)....so can contract and spread lifelonge disease both lethal and nonlethal without regards to life or well-being.

some huge repsponsibilities fall on those that are aged 18...but for some reason you cannot have a beer while watching monday night football until you turn 21.

I'm all for lowering the drinking age to 18. I spent a month in Poland and could legally drink since I am 18. I feel that since 18 year olds are technically and legally "adults," they should be allowed to drink. As an 18 year old, the government feels that I am mature enough to die for my country and vote for who should lead it, but I cannot have a beer or wine. Also, when I turn 21, I will be in college about 3 hours away from my parents. If I binge drink there, who will stop me? If I am 18 and living under my parent's roof, I will be much more receptive to their opinions. I know many will disagree with this, but I can't change what I believe.

If you want my honest opinion here it is:

Drinking, is bad for your body. It can really mess with your head, and cause you not to act like yourself. I was taught in school and at home not to drink, smoke, etc. It may be a person's choice to drink, but I believe it is the wrong choice, to put alcohol into your body, I have never drank any alcoholic drink in my life and don't ever intend to. I am so proud of all the people who try to stop drinking, As for the concept of the drinking age being lowered, I think it should stay 21, that way, you would have been driving longer, and had more time to make the choice. I mean, were people not taught not to drink? I mean, don't they see how everyday someone dies from a drunk driver, intoxicated spouse is abusive, and why do you think you are not supposed to drink when pregnant? You should not drink at any time

I am in favor of it, because I think that if drinking were less "taboo", people aged 18 to 21 would drink more responsibly, and they would feel less of a need to get drunk every time that they drink.

I do not think we should lower the drinking age. If they are going to lower the drinking age, than they should stop putting such a tight hold on cigarette smoking. Drinking is just as bad as smoking.

if you are old enough to go to war and die for your country, why can't you enjoy a beer if you want


but i agree with the research that it has a bad affect on the young brains of youth

It really doesnt make a difference. I remember when my 13 year old best friend went to rehab. If kids want drinks, they'll get it- limits or not.

I think it's ok, other countries aren't as strict. I think they should raise the "driving age"!In Germany you can legally drink before you can legally drive a car.
I don`t drink, but I`m not gonna tell you that you can`t!
