I am looking for a job and have been out of work for awhile. I am so bored and disatisfied with my life right now. I need some ideas to get me more involved with social groups or even solitary hobbies. I have a hard time getting motivated in the morning because I really don't have anyplace I HAVE to go (ie. work) and it is easy to make excuses to not get dressed. Please help me come up with some ideas. I am in my late twenties and don't want to join groups for older people - something more my age. Any ideas? I am getting desperate! Please give me as many ideas as you can think of.

I think you need to have a plan. with out a plan there is not a goal. without goals you just drift and do nothing.
even if you have no where to go go outside to walk. structure somethings. take baby steps. you will begin to change/just one thing can start a change in you. I know that life is hard and we go through challenging times sometimes its during those times that we learn the most about ourselves and life.
can you go to the libraby and reseach things to do in your town. on your list write reseach/make a decision/ go to an activity to see if you like it. type in connections groups.on your computer/ there are groups in all towns that you can join.
do something you used to enjoy when you were a child. did you roller skate, like to swim or did you like to draw? go where there are other people to meet. tomorrow could be a different day for you. while waiting for work you can volunteer. or you could take a temporary job. write a list of all the things you can thing of. bake something, visit a neighbor, feed the birds, look at the moon. get a make-over. I hope this is a start to some fun for you.

I would look at volunteer opportunities. It will get you out of the house and give you a wider look at the world around you. If you feel bored and dissatisfied, find a cause you think is interesting and devote some of your time. The recipients will appreciate it and you will feel better about having accomplished something.

Hospitals, Elderly Care Residences, Schools, Political groups or candidates. Even more off beat things like bicycle repair workshops and delivering food to shut ins and other folks.

It will help motivate you to get out of the house because once you start one of these activities, other people will be depending on you.

Hope this helps.

I'm 29 and "job hunting" myself.
If you have kids (even if not) Try the local libraries. They have age appropriate meetings, groups, classes etc usually free of charge from toddler to old fogie lol.

OR you could always take up something like Yoga or Tae Bo. It's hard at first to get motivated, but once you go a few times it gets easier.

Maybe start making candles? It's a GREAT stress reliever (you get to beat the hell out of blocks of wax with a hammer) and you've got something cool as an end result. (I gave it up when I moved...no counterspace in an apartment! lol)

Try coin collecting. It doesn't have to cost you a lot. You can go to the bank and pick of a box of coin (whichever denomination you like) for exactly face value. You can go through and pull out the better ones (there are books to help with this or websites).

The coins that you don't want can be returned to the bank and put straight back into your account (though it's often better to return the coins to a different bank (not just a different branch but a different bank) so that you don't search the same boxes over and over).

Some things to search for: wheat pennies, silver dimes, silver quarters, old coins, error coins, etc.

I play The Sims when I'm bored, or get on YA. You could also take up knitting or crocheting. You could find an easy to follow book at Wal-Mart for about $10.00. I would recommend crocheting. I've heard knitting is really hard to learn. Reading is a good way to pass the time, if you like to read. If you really think about what you like to do, you will find something to occupy your time. Good Luck!

Volunteer to read to children or the blind. Go to a homeless shelter and help feed people. Clean up a local park.
