Its probably something else causing the slow down. The longer you go without defraging and the more stuff on the hard drive will slow it down bit by bit. Viruses or adware and other stuff like that will also slow it down.
Heat will also slow it down a tad too but if it gets damaged from the heat it should stop working all together or you should be getting some serious errors.
Heat will shorten the life of the laptop and yes theres a chance that if you use it a lot in warm temperatures that it could break.
Even using it a lot in normal temperatures could cause a problem but that depends on the make and model some laptops get way to hot.

The slowness isnt the hea, its all the spyware/malware/greyware on your computer. As far as heat, YES it can hurt your puter. Turn off unneeded processes, esp software running in the background like P2P, AOell, spyware, etc. If you run very ram, processor and video intensive programs, your computer will draw more current and will heat up. Windows will shut your puter down with an error code if it gets too hot. Flash your bios so that you have the most recent heat/fan rpm settings for your proc fan
Just having it in a warm room isnt enough to even phase it. Most of us have our homes below 83 in the summertime. Now a hot car in the summer time......

Yes, very much so. If you are clocking at a really high rate of speed it will get hot. If you feel it getting hot and it is really noticeable, then that is enough heat to cook it.
Put an external fan blowing right on it. If it seems to still be running hot and not performing as usual you might have to shut it down during really hot times.
Heat is the killer of all electronics.

No. As a matter of fact, put it in the oven and crank it up to about 500 degrees. Let it sit in there for about 45 minutes. After 45 minutes, take it out and proceed to log into the internet. You'll see that heat has no effect on electronics, or my name isn't Al Pacino

Yes, keeping any thing electronic as cool as possible helps. An inexpensive way to keep a lap top cooler is to use a cooling pad. You can buy one for $20.00 up, the ones with dual fans and adjustable fan speed work best. I bought mine at Fry's Electronics on sale for $20.00, another one at Circuit City for $39.95 ( Targus Brand) both work well.
Hope this helps

laptop overheating is a common problem, especially with AMD processors.. try buying a heat laptop stand
if you can't wait tilt the laptop up with a book a little up so the fan isn't facing the table physically... you need make the fan able to blow the air our instead of blasting it at the table and getting redirected back to the fan

YES....... I lost an Alienware because it got so hot it fried the motherboard. Electronics in whole enjoy cool temps so getting overheated will damage the unit. Always make sure the PC is in a cool area that it can vent in.

Yes your laptop can be effected by Heat.
When you are using it make sure it sits on a hard surface so as not to block the air vents on the bottom.
There is an optional base you can purchase that the laptop sits on and provides extra cooling.

Heat can mess up a laptop if it gets too hot. Your laptop is probably moving slowly because it has little memory or has too many processes running. If you are worried about your laptop you should get a laptop cooler.
