My hubby has an LGCU400 phone on the Cingular 2000 min plan with rollover. He doesnt have that many prob with the plan or the phone. He drives an 18 wheeler from California to Pennsylvania and everywhere in between. I am not saying they are perfect, cause no cell company is. He gets his money worth. His texts come through really fast, too.

in reading through the above answers, there is one thing that needs to be said...
When people talk about ATT/Cingular, remember there was a separate company called Att wireless that was bought out by Cingular in 2004-5 timeframe. At that time, ATT was HORRIBLE, I say this, and I work for them! When both networks merged, coverage doubled and in some cases tripled overnight, but there was some switching issues due to the two network deal.
Since then the majority of the network as been modified and many of the old ATT towers are completely retooled with Cingular Equipment. This is important because NO CELL PHONE COMPANY can put up as many towers at Cingular refurbised. So starting about late 2005, the nationwide call reliablity started climbing.
So when people say "ATT SUCKS", they may be speaking from experiences of a company that is no longer there. But if you look at the above responses, the majority say that ATT is the better choice between ATT and Verizon.
Personally...i started with a local company, who was bought out by sprint, then switched to verizon, then switched to ATT Wireless, bought out of my contract cause it sucked so hard and switched to nextel, stayed with them for 2 years, then switched BACK to verizon (moved to a place where only verizon had coverage, the middle of nowhere), then moved to a metro area and did extensive testing and chose cingular wireless, eventually working for them.
Call quality, in my opinion is the best with ATT. Sprint dropped calls like no ones business on me, verizon often only had 1 or 2 bars in most of the places I was at...but calls were there most often, and the most recent stint with ATT, I really cant recall having a dropped call at all, in the past year. I am sure it has happened, but it really has been a non event for me. And since I have the ability to report dropped calls and dead spots daily through work.....I havent really found the need to complain about call quality.

well my boyfriend has Cingular/AT&T and he is CONSTINTELY getting his calls dropped. We will be on the phone and he wil have to call me back sometimes 5 times in a row, until we just give up on it. We live in the suburbs so there is no excuse for a bad signal. I have Verizon, and i always have full signal everywhere I go. I was in the woods camping a few weeks ago in massachusetts and i still got pretty good service. I tried talking to my bf.. but my call was lost..... although.. it was Cingular's fault.
No cell phone company is perfect, but in my experience, Verizon definitely beats Cingular.

Honestly, I think that their plans are a bit pricey. And I live in a mountainous area and at times the service is unreliable. I have one of the top model phones with an awesome data package, but I think it could be made more affordable. Customer service is could also be alot better in the stores, and when calling in for assistance. Remember that when you switch online purchases can be returned to stores, if makes and models of merchandise are available. They will tell you otherwise. I had a huge issue with this currently, with AT&T. I am about to switch carriers, due to issues that have occurred with others and AT&T, within my famliy as well. It will be worth the 250-300.00 to get out of this contract and unhappiness.

Yes. I've had Verizon (sucks) and T-mobile (T stands for Terrible) and AT&T is by far the best. You get service anywhere and if you need them, their customer service actually helps you. I've had a few problems with my phone (not their fault, long story) and they helped me without passing me around. They even gave me tips on what to say to the company that I was having problems with. So if having a company whose employees people who actually do their jobs is important to you, go with them.
