We have chosen the name Ahnya Storm for our new little girl. Someone told me that it was a stripper name. I don't think it sounds like one but then again, I don't hang around strip clubs. What do you think

It does have kind of a stage name feel to it. I'd choose Anya over Ahnya since it can get irritating when people frequently misspell your name because it's an alternative spelling. Storm has a nice ring to it as a middle name, but it is rather strange and your kid may be in for some teasing.

Yes, it does very much sound like that. Sorry. I wouldn't use the word Storm as name, even as a middle name.

And the name Ahnya? I realize you want your girl to have a one of a kind name and all, but such 'creative' spelling is not a good idea. People are not going to going to know how to spell it or pronounce it.

I didn't think Ahnya sounded like a stripper name but with the name Storm.....maybe a little!

I think it's worse if you switch the two....STORM AHNYA!

THAT IS PORN STAR ALL THE WAY!!! lol

The two names would work better in my opinion with other names.

Ahnya _________
or
__________ Storm

I have to agree with many others... Ahnya is adorable - I picture a little Russian/slavic girl, but Storm changes everything and does sound, I'll put it nicely, like a "stage" name, sorry.

She won't go by Ahnya Storm so people won't think its a stripper name because they will only know her as Ahnya. Besides I know of people whom have named their girls Rein, Storm, and Raven.

I think it's a lovely name. It doesn't sound like a 'stripper' name to me. We got that exact feedback from my brother in law when we named our youngest son Dallas. His full name is Dallas Christopher Russell.

Now if you went with something like Misty Rain (the name of our ceramic tile), then I could understand the whole 'stripper' name thing, but definitely not with Ahnya Storm...love it!

Best wishes! ;)

It's a unique name, but I wouldn't say stripper. I think if it makes it sound like anything, Storm makes it sound a little tomboyish. But! I think that's a good thing, because I think that Ahnya is very girlie. It definitely balances it out. I think it's a beautiful name. Everyone else is just jealous their kids name isn't quite as original.

Yep ~ sounds like a stripper name to me. Especially STORM
And what kind of name is Ahnya? Is it 3 syllables or 2 syllables? A-nye'-ah or Awn-ya'
Teachers and kids will mispronouce her name - no doubt.
ANd what is the LAST NAME? Make sure they go together. And that the initials don't spell something bad.

It's the 'Storm' part that sounds stripper-ish or porn-star-ish.

What about Ahnya Spring instead? It's similar in sound and feel without the R-rated association.

For what it's worth, why not spell the first name Anya? That's more in line with eastern European tradition.
