My two friends and I make up a story every year. We switch off chapters, and last year's was about two hundred and thirty pages long. What would be a good plot line for a story that could last at least that many pages?

I'll tell you one I wrote--not that you should copy it. It's about a guy who is full of himself. He's a college professor and rides around in a Harley. One of the other professors dies and he attends the funeral by running his Harley down the church aisle during the ceremony. Life's a big joke to him until one night the professor comes back as a ghost and tells him he will have the last laugh because heaven is filling up and unless he dies very soon, he can't get in. Should he believe him? If he does, what should he do? He spends the whole time dazed and confused, trying to find out if it's a practical joke. But suppose it isn't?

I like writing stories also. Mine usually start out as something that could really happen and then end up fantasy-ish. Like the one I wrote about a flood and the when I was finished it ended with my sisters and I in some lost world. I have to write one where we get home now.

End of the world. What happens next? Do some people survive? Or is there a race somewhere else that will take over?

I would say maybe where the main character has two best friends that have been taken away by something to do with the setting and place and how the whole thing works and they are in terrible danger. He/she is determined to save them from the ugly and horrifying death.

I actually really like Persiphone's answer. That's a great idea for a story. It could be somewhat Never Ending Story/Inkheart-esque.
