While I disagree with the general theory, Maslow's Heirarchy of Needs is a good indicator that we all have different needs and at different times.

I don't need anything, so I'm not looking. I don't want for anything, so I'm not looking. Nothing is "missing" and therefore there is nothing to look for.

The experience of looking for anything in life comes from a unfounded belief that something is missing. What we look for in life comes from making ourselves discontented with what exists.

We can learn to tolerate, then accept and then enjoy what exists. All looking ends at that point.

What is everyone REALLY looking in life? They are looking to fill their lives with the illusions of the physical world, day by day, and moment by moment, they nurture the illusion which life offers everyone, so that they cannot see the inevitable. Death.

The simple but perfect answer -

Happiness.

Everyone craves it but it's true what they say, when you try too hard for happiness, it makes you even more depressed.
Life's a puzzle, a difficult one at that.
