The year is 1907.....but the speaker knew what he was talking about. Theodore Roosevelt's ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN 1907
"In the first place, we should insist
that if the immigrant who
comes here in good faith becomes an American and
assimilates himself to
us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with
everyone else, for it
is an outrage to discriminate against any such
man because of creed, or
birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated
upon the person's becoming
in every facet an American, and nothing but an
American...There can be
no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he
is an American, but
something else also, isn't an American at all. We
have room for but one
flag, the American flag... We have room for but
one language here, and
that is the English language... and we have room
for but one sole
loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American
people."

Theodore Roosevelt ,1907
I am so proud to be an AMERICAN . Thank God.

Definitely. Even today. I am not necessarily proud of some of the things the President or other Americans have done but that hasn't changed my pride in America and being an American. I was made here, I will stay here (aside from a few road trips overseas).

I'm proud to be who I am. I don't take responsibility for what trouble the rest of the nation gets itself into. From there, I take pride in my friends, my family and my pet. When I drive down the street, I think about how all the freedoms we now have and those that are constantly violated and it's hard to know where I really stand.

Of course I want to be proud of my nation, but like anybody else in my life, well placed pride doesn't come on it's own. It's the result of continuous well-doing and solid choice making.

I think it's about time we put the spotlight on congress and everyone else in our government who's standing in our way of making our nation and the world a better place. It's a fact that more power government has, the greater they hinder the wishes of well-minded people who just want to be free.

I think we need to stop thinking about whether we're happy about what's going on and focus on what we can do to make it even better.

How can we make it a place we can ALL be proud of? Lets acknowledge our problems and focus on solutions. As long as we're doing as much as we can, what don't we have to be proud of?

Yes, I'm American and I'm proud of it as all should be proud of their heritage.
I'm a born and bred Flag Waver. Very, VERY proud to be an American. One doesn't have to love our governing factors to love this country, one of the beauties of BEING a true red, white & blue American.

There will forever be young men fighting old men's wars. I will always be proud to be an American. That does not mean that I am proud of our president or the path we have been led.

I don't think about being "proud" personally.......I was born and raised here. I live and work here......I pay my taxes. These things are just a fact for me.

Some times I'm proud of us.....some times I'm ashamed of us.
