Greatest? Well, I think Descartes screwed with everyone's head. He is one philosopher who's thinking has infected many and often without people ever realizing it.

Descartes and Newton weren't Renaissance philosophers, they belonged to the Enlightenment and the Age of Genius, respectively. My vote could definetly pass to Erasums, a philospoher of the Northern Renaissance. His artwork In compliment of Folly is asserted to have planted the seed that Luther planted, which potential his criticisms of the Roman Catholic Church shaped the inspiration for the Protestant Reformation. yet another stable determination could be Sir Thomas greater, who's Utopia, or acceptable society, replaced into the type for many socialistic writers and societies to stick to.
