Pompeii and Herculaneum. You could have found this out by doing a google search on "Vesuvius."

Pompeii and Herculaneum were the cities, and it is volcanic ASH not ask. Anyway, when Pompeii was discovered, it showed the people still sitting at tables, asleep in bed, etc perfectly preserved.
