In life we are alive for 80-100 years if we are blessed, healthy and lucky. After we die thats it, no do overs, no way of changing the past. Therefore the only reason we have to live is to have fun or make a difference and make a mark in the world. I always feared my death, so I want to leave a mark in the world, one that I will be remembed for, but most people I meet are all about the partying. Which one is better and why?

guru freakin awesome point. But if I spent my entire life and did just enough to be remembered like a president, a leader, a brillant person, an Einstein, Washington, Edison, Tesla, someone great. What if a normal person could go past their potential into true greatness. Just to be in the history books would be enough for me.

I hate to break the news, but you will be forgotten. Even by your loved ones. After a socially proscribed grieving period, every one will get on with their lives. The number of people who are truly remembered through history is statistically insignficant.

Someone close to me died a few years ago. At the time, I was unwilling to forget that person. But, until you asked the question, I completely forgot about him long ago.

If you do want to be remembered, you have a better chance by being infamous rather than being famous. Mass murderers always get a good nod in the history books. I never met Jack the Ripper, but he has stayed with us.

One asteroid collision and all your years of work towards leaving a mark is in the trash.

The world got along just fine before I came onto the scene. And, they will do fine once I am gone.

Learn to let go of those we lose. Life is far more enjoyable. I wouldn't want anyone to suffer by having to remember me and always working towards my memory.

We could begin with "how many people should remember us?" For how long after our deaths, do we want to be remembered? How many must know of us or our actions before we are satisified?

It varies from relationship to relationship. Some people become serious after just a month or two. For others, it might be months. In my last relationship I don't think we became serious until about 9 months in. We were together for a total of 2 and a half years, so it was a pretty serious relationship, but that's what I wanted at the time too. If you just want to have fun, then take it slow and just have fun.

Well my first instinct would have been to say fun, for sure. But when I think about it, if you do live to be 80 to 100, you'd better be serious about certain things so that you can have some fun when you're old and can't earn a living anymore!

Balance of both, there are times to have fun and times to be serious, just as with everything else in life, an extreme of one thing is always bad. Balance is the key.

Serious fun.

Without being serious there is not any fun. Without having fun there is no reason to be serious.

The best way to be remembered is to live your life.

As it is.

Seriously.

Have fun.
