That is what acting is. It's one of the toughest jobs to get into.

If you really do have a passion for theater, then you have to learn that patience is a HUGE part of it. Some people who have the most amount of talent have to wait a long time to finally get into the business.

Again, if you truly have a love for acting and theater, then just be patient and continue working in your community theater. In the end, you'll finally get your big chance. And so what if you're 80 and your chance comes then? At least you'll be in a commercial doing what you love.

Hope that helps!

Patience, patience, patience...I know it's frustrating. I've been working on it since I was 17. I'm 40 now. I'm not famous, but I have acheived what I was after: to be good at what I do, and that's acting. If you are still in school then that should be your priority. Stay in school and keep acting when you can. I live in Wyoming. Agents aren't exactly knocking down my door at the moment, but professional gigs come up from time to time. I'm sure there are professional gigs in Missouri too. Don't be so anxious to be a professional actor that you sell yourself short or do something you will regret. It will happen if it's meant to be. Keep working hard.

Oh, we get it. It's YOU that needs to "get" this---

Going online is not "working". Going to the library is not "working". Reading books is not "working". Acting in a play in school, which is presumably what you want to do anyway, is not "working". Wishing you were an actress is not "working". You have not mentioned one single thing that could possibly be described as "work". And yet you're fussing because you think people are somehow depriving you of your RIGHT to have acting jobs fall into your lap, after all your "hard work". You act as though all that is required to be an actress is to make "people" understand how badly you want to be one.

Well, guess what? There are probably at least ten million other girls your age in this country, who have your exact level of experience and talent, and who want to be actresses as badly as you. They are bemoaning the fact that famous directors don't have casting calls in places like Akron and Little Rock. Most of them think THEY have "worked" their butts off, too.

Any one of those girls could have written the same rant that you did.

The only difference is that one of the other girls might have had the courtesy and good sense to throw in the occasional capital letter and period, to make the whole thing more readable, and herself look more intelligent.

I have had an agent for 5 years and finally got to be in a music video the other day. I have wanted to act for 8 years. It is not easy to be in stuff. I live in a town in alberta canada. It is not the ideal place to get big ethier. But I am working hard and it is paying off.

This is what YOU don't get. There is no acting work where you live. How are you going to find something that doesn't exist? Would you go fishing for tuna in a freshwater lake? No, because there are none there. When you get older you can move to NY or LA if you want. For now relax and wise up to the reality of your situation.

You will only find scams on the internet, not legitimate acting jobs.

Legitimate directors and producers do not post auditions online.

You are not the only one that wants to be an actress.

calm down. The acting industry is not going anywhere. relax

The acting industry has been around for thousands of years, it is not going anywhere, you on the other hand, are freaking out for no reason.

If you have relatives in L.A., or N.Y., ask your parents if they will let you stay with them while you study acting in LA or NY.

Welcome to life, most people work their butts off for a life time and the rewards come slow if at all...its how you feel inside if you accomplish your own ability's to satisfy yourself, not someone else.. I have painted with oils for over 58 years and some of my paintings are as good as Rembrandt, no bull.. .. I do sell some.. but only once in awhile.. but it is what I feel when I finish one that is priceless..

I "get" it.

Do not despair. Continue to work your butt off.

That's Showbiz. Get used to it. With time and experience, you may, mind you, MAY, be a working actor.
