I'm going into grade 8, and I want to start wearing make up. I have dark brown hair thats really curly and layered at about armpit's length. I'm pretty tanned, and I have a pretty small head and green eyes with a bit of brown in them(they change depending on season) I'm not sure if this info helps decide on make up stuff but anyways...
I do put on a light coat of eyeliner on the bottom, should I put it on the top? The colour my mom buys is a brown, is that good for me?
What type and brands should I buy? Is there good quality, but cheap make up?
And me and my mom aren't very close, and even though I'm the oldest, I don't think she wants me to grow up. How can I tell her I want to have my own makeup?

The number one rule is don't overdo it.
Brown is a great color for eyeliner, black just makes your eyes appear smaller.
Anything you can get at a drug store like Maybelline, Cover Girl or Revlon is inexpensive but still good quality.
The next time you are at a store with your mom, ask her if you can go look at the makeup. Maybe ask for her opinion on what colors to use? You could even actually bond over it!
Good luck!!!

I am also 13 (almost 14) I started wearing make when i was 13 also... and i made a HUGE mistake. I wore really think eyeliner with dark purple eyeshadow! Not good... I say go more natural I ware this silverish color of liquid eyeliner but if you can't hold your hand steady don't try it. Because you have dark brown hair you can do either brown or black doesn't really matter. I don't like liner or mascara ob the bottom because it seems to smear but that might just be me. I don't know much about brands but the mascara that comes in a pink tube with lime green lid works the best(make sure you don't get blue!that was not good...) and don't Define a Lash by Mabaline*sp it clumps a LOT. You probably don't want to share your everyday make-up even if it is your mom my mom bought me my first basics and buys my stage make-up but anything else i have to get. so you probably have to buy some of your own to (most people do I'm sorry to say)I hope this helps!!

eyeliner on the top can get messy and look strange so stick to the bottom and eye shadow can look over done so stick get a good mascara and play around with different colors of eye liner, i have green eyes and i like blue or white and have heard purple looks really pretty. Brown looks good too. just dont go over board because you are only in eigth grade and some people become dependant on make up so much that you arent used to them with out it and it looks weird so use in moderation.
about your mom its your decision so if you buy it she will find out some way. im the oldest too and if you start out small so that she likes it she will slowly approve if she doesnt already. NYC is really cheap and they have good makeup.

Brown is a very great choice for eyeliner with your skin tone and eye color. Brown mascara would also be a wise choice.
My best advice is to not over do it with eye liner, and use blacks sparingly, they make women look hard unless applied properly.
When i was in 8th grade, I just told my mother it was time i grow up and wear a touch of makeup, the best and cheapest brands are covegirl and i love wet-n-wild. Try to go for the oil free foundations, as they make your skin more prone to acne.
Good Luck!! Tell me how it goes!

Okay, so I think you would probably look best with black eye liner! Take some liquid eyeliner and put it on the top of your eye if you want a flirty effect! I think a nice olive green would really bring out your eyes also! I think Cover Girl is the best Cover up and mascara brand, and MAX is the best for eye shadows!

Hey! Sounds to me like with your complexion you should get a black eyeliner, not brown. And don't use it on your upper lid yet! Instead, use a mascara in black. And you can use a little natural looking blush like pink or peach (whatever your cheeks look like when you actually blush). Also you can use some lip gloss, but a nice light kind, not too bright.
I think the one good thing that makes you look natural but better is mascara!
Oh, and N.Y.C. us a good and cheap brand. Nail polish is $1 and you can get powder/lip gloss for as little as $2 or $3!

For your eyes you should go to Walmart and buy Almay's intense-i-color collection pack. It has eyeliner, mascara, and eyeshadow. It has 3 special colors of eyeshadow just for your eye color to bring out your eyes.
You can wear foundation if you want to but buy the kind that doesn't clog up your skin like neutrogena, covergirl,l'oreal.
Tell your mom you want to start wearing make-up, but you promise to take it slow and let her help you so you wont end up looking like a hooker. Let her know your responsible and trustworthy.
You can buy a cosmetic bag that has all the basics in it for starters if you want, or at your local mall you can go at a cosmetic place where the make-up people are and the perfume people are they can help you find the right shade of foundation and everything.

You should definitely go for natural looks that will bring out your features. A sheer purple eyeshadow will really bring out green in your eyes.(covergirl palette it has four shades in it) Go light on the eyeliner (brown is best for you), and add a tiny bit of mascara (black/brown maybelline) and some sheer lip gloss (victoria's secret Beauty Rush strawberry sorbet). you'll look amazing!
