They work by having 2 different prop shafts with counter-rotating gears inside the lower unit. Much better performance with these but high repair costs.

It came from the use of a torpedo during the war.It takes the torque to starboard an balances it to make the boat travel straight.Very expense to repair$$

Counter rotating props, meaning they rotate in different directions. It actually works well.....

eliminates the torque the prop creates and gives more thrust.
