I noticed the other day when my husband pulled up the old carpet layed new that we all of sudden had a flea problem in one and only one of our rooms. This room doesnt come into contact with any of our pets. I keep the doors shut so I have no idea why they are in that room and where they came from. Do you guys have any tips on how to get rid of them. I just vacuumed and sprayed a reptile flea, tick, and mite killer in the room. I was just curious if there was anything else I could do. Thanks for your answers and I can do without the harsh comments as well.

Try sprinkling 20 Mule Team Borax (sold on the laundry detergent aisle) over the carpet and let it sit for about a week. Vacuum well and repeat. I tried this and it really worked for me!

Make sure to empty the contents of the vacuum pretty quick for the eggs can hatch in there as well....I presume your going to or have put new carpet back in..and they sell a carpet fresh type product that will kill fleas, thier eggs etc...not A bad idea to use this monthly on your carpets..If you had fleas in one room..you will get them in the others, just might not be as bad untill some "new hatches" hatch from them areas..would be a good preventitive measure to do all the rooms..

When this happened to me a few years ago, I bought a few cans of flea fogger. You first have to cover all wood furniture with newspaper (only the tops) set the sprayer, leave the room, close the door behind you and go out for a few hours until the fog disappears. I first noticed I had fleas when I noticed my son's white sox had black dots on them and when I went to take one off it jumped, AND SO DID I !! I went nuts itching and each room I went in, there they were, just waiting to jump on us. Within hours after fogging my whole house, they were dead. I just vacuumed and by the next day you would never have known there was a total flea infestation.

hey hun! no i dont have any harsh comments. only good suggestions. well, when i was pregnant, me and my hubby moved into a new house that was infested with fleas, we tried everything. and we still have them... so what i do is make sure that i vaccume every day. fleas wont live there if there is no animals for them to feed on. and i recomend that you empty your vacume every time that you use it. and make sure that you tie the bag up tight and put in trash can so they can not get back out. and also, put a flea coller inside of your vacuume, this will kill any fleas that are in the vacuume. try steam cleaning your carpet also. as often as you can.

Lightly damp some old towel in water and put some kerocine oil on it, then rub it on whole carpet, this will keep ants and other pests away from carpet. Foul smell of kerocine will go off in few hours
