I just bought a used 1995 toyota Celica with 193,000 miles on it for $2,800. This would be my first car, (That's why it was so cheap) and my plan is to drive the car until it can't take anymore and it finally dies.
Obviously, since it was so cheap..it has cosmetic issues. Such as a scrape on the front bumper, the toyota emblem was taken off the front of the car, dings and a scrape across the side of the car (barely noticeable).
Anyway, my question is, would it be worth getting a new emblem, repainting the front bumper, seeing if the dings can be popped out, and getting a spoiler for it? Or should I not really be too concerned with the look of the car, and just do very small things to it?
Thanks so much and please, I'm a teenager...I don't know **** about cars, if I said something stupid, be a little mature and don't shove it in my face or call me an idiot.

Absolutely. Toyotas are top quality and chances are the car will keep running a lot longer than you actually plan to keep it. Might as well make it look as nice as it is while you drive it.

And lastly, 193K is high miles for a Ford, NOT a Toyota.

Celicas command a premium price but still I don't consider $2800 so cheap. Just paying a certain price does not garantee you get anything for it. I would consider $500 a cheap price--and even then only assuming it was pretty okay mechanically. That's first.
Second, definitely try to fix it up--especially if you can do it yourself. Replacing the emblem will make a cosmetic difference and you can do it yourself if you find out how it is attached. Get one from a junk yard. As for professional attention, it will be expensive but consider it on a spot basis. If you get a good price on something which you feel will make a difference. But for the most part it is a world of people trying to make a living off of you without regard to how it adds up for you. You may be able to sell the car for more than you paid--or at least as much. Don't be afraid to be cheap--they are!

A lot would depend on how much money you have. Yes this car is worth spending a little money on but don't strap yourself to do it. Think of it like putting in a nice radio if you get the money and can afford it great but realize this car will probably need a few mechanical repairs, brakes, tires, exhaust, etc. your money would be better spent in these areas first. Good Luck.

Just run it till it dies and next time your looking for a nice car maybe ask someone that knows something about cars to help you. Seriously don't put anymore money into it.

you may no longer purchase lots of a vehicle for $500. You sound merely such as you like to justify a greater moderen vehicle fairly than get by potential of. there is not any longer something incorrect with desiring a sparkling vehicle, yet financially it does not make experience to realize this in case you may get in stable working order for $500. There must be yet another seventy 5,000 to a hundred,000 in tha informed Regal till now you will ought to junk it out.

Just because you're a teenager doesn't mean you can't know anything about cars. I'm a teenager, and i've restored a car from a piece of junk.

If you're going to drive it into the ground, i wouldn't spend much on it, because a dead car doesn't sell for very much, or very easily.

Just drive it and take care of it, I wouldn't worry about fixing it up. Try not to worry too much of what others think of you, if your car isn't in good enough shape for them then they aren't good enough to be your friend.

Start by buying the manual for it. ( Haynes/Chilton's )
Do the mechanical before the bodywork.
Keep your fluids and filters clean.

The more you do yourself the cheaper it will be.
