I watch like 3 white TV comedy shows that are white(Frasier, Everybody Loves Raymond, and King of Queens,) because they are actually funny. But most shows I've seen that are white are so corny that they make me fall asleep.
I'm not saying black shows aren't corny either(because some are) I'm just saying that there are WAY MORE FUNNIER black comedy TV shows than white shows. And FRIENDS is SO NOT FUNNY, I tried to watch it but it was TOO CORNY!!
You can't tell me that you think TV show "Friends" was better than "Martin" Even many whites watched "Martin" It was once (when it was on) the funniest show in America.
I know VERY FEW blacks that will watch "friends" willingly.
I know people have different opinions on what's funny. I'm just saying that black comedy shows, are just as funny or funnier than their white counterparts.

I agree with you. I hate Friends! And Martin was a damn good show. I watch it on TVOne.

I remember the political controversy now. IMO it was because of the last couple of shows. I saw them. The comedy went almost overboard and it was just negative commentary. Not that I minded, but it got not funny. I imagine they had decided that they would do it that way from now on and that wouldn't work very well. They almost needed a talk show for that. I guess we weren't too used to that format either, especially if you had expected comedy. My point is that I don't think it was so much about what they had done up until then. I tickled a lot of us. And today, I mean, if you even mention religion today, have you noticed how mean people can get? Why is that, bigbopper, scratch, scratch?

well i never liked the white shows you named above but i didnt like martin either
but it is a good question
i dont like most black humor example the rush hour trilogy wasnt funny i thought the black guy was quite irritating and if i was Jakie Chan i would have slapped him alot off camera
but im more of a stand up fan and i really dont like black stand up it is toooooo slap stick and most of making loud noises to accent the act was irritating also
but i was a Seinfeld fan and like that type humor
and to answer your question the awards are picked not by viewers but producers and actors in Hollywood

Sorry i have to completely disagree with you, every black comedy TV show Ive watched was completely stupid and boring. Maybe you should stop looking at the color of peoples skin and just rate the shows based on how funny they are.

Well that is just YOUR opinion and obviously you and a few others are the only ones that believe that or else these black shows would be winning awards. It also has something to do with most of the shows on t.v. being mostly white and they rule the industry. Who cares....

Guess that's why Blacks have to come up with their own award programs like the NAACP & BET awards. What kills me is how a show like Friends/Seinfeld can be in NYC and have little if any representation of Asians, Latinos or Blacks. Last time I checked, you couldn't walk a block in NYC without tripping over one of them. Their programs are not realistic. But then, judging from how most Caucasians act, I guess they don't have any exposure to people of color.

I agree, and Eddie Murphy should have won the oscar for dreamgirls..... I'm still mad....I love Frasier....
