CCM, or contemporary Christian music, is a second class copy of secular music.
If you listen to it all the time, sure, it may sound good. But compared to secular music, it's lame. And all they do is just imitate ( in a second rate manner ) the secular artists. They never do anything that is original.
Gosh, I was watching a bit of Hillsong on tv ( just a few minutes-that's about as much as I can hack of Hillsong) and they were doing this kids church service with contemporary music.
It was just a blatant and overt rip off of HI 5!!!! The same cornball type music (fair enough-they are just kids). But the same combination of young adult male and female singers, and the same type of dancing and body/hand movements in tune with the lyrics of the song.
That's the contemporary Christian music scene for you.
If you want to hear some really great contemporary music, you need to listen to the greats or rock, like Black Sabbath,Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple etc.

Two that come immediately to mind, because I listen to them regularly, are 38th Parallel and Thousand Foot Krutch.
38th Parallel has a tune called '3 Times Denied' that is amazing. Check it out, both bands are available on Yahoo Music.
Peace.

Hillsong United and Toby Mac are some of my favorites right now. They're pretty popular with Christian teens right now.
