I have been on proloft therapy for 3 months and also on a prescription pill called mobic. I am finally getting relief. Tell him to hang on. Ask him to tell his arthiritis Dr. that he needs something for pain. He may need to see a rhuematologist. They specialize in osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. I sympathize with your grandfather, as osteo-arthritis can be extremely painful. If you are not getting the help, please get another Dr.'s opinion, as I had to go to several to get the help I needed, I have rheumatoid, and osteo-arthritis. The best of luck to your grandfather.

Imagine for a moment your arthritis completely vanishing right now.
If, in a moment, your pain and stiffness melted away. And your joints all of a sudden functioned like a well-oiled machine.
Like a magic wand was waived, you'd be able to jump up from your chair and run around the room like a kid.
And imagine that you'd never have to suffer as much as a pinch of arthritis stiffness or pain ever again.
I know this sounds impossible right now, but bear with me, because sometimes miracles happen.
It was a gift from a woman on the other side of the world. From the kindness of her heart, she took pity on my suffering and taught me how to completely reverse my arthritis.
Today, I want to do the same for you!

Check here a very effective Sciatica Natural Treatment ( http://cure-sciatica.info )
Normally, I would not answer a question like this as my expertise is generally in medication but I had severe sciatica while I was pregnant with my 3rd child (after having had twins) and I had sciatica so bad that I was finding it difficult to walk. I tried massage therapy and physical therapy and could not take medication
I went to the chiropractor and the pain was instantly relieved. My hips and lower back were out of alignment because I had carried twins the year before. On occasion a Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) can also work but they usually only work on one joint at a time - the chiropractor will do your whole back which works faster. Anyone who does not believe in chiropractors will tell you they are quacks - don't listen.
I don't necessarily believe that chiropractors can cure things like diabetes but they can definitely relieve some types of back pain especially if a pinched nerve is involved which is usually the cause of sciatica.

Hello-
Have you tried taking METHYL SULFONYL METHANE (msm for short) for your grandpa?
You have to take anywhere from 4000mg to 6000mg (Valerie Saxion and health suggest maybe even taking more than that per you can't over dose on this natural supplement per it's found in your body already but depletes the older you get).
Start slow, maybe taking 2000mg to start and slowly increasing the dosage (also, don't take it past 2:00 in the afternoon or he'll get no sleep).
Some studies have had there participants taking between 24,000 to 30,000 mg a day (no, it's not a typo).
Just taking 500 or 1000mg won't work to help the pain. Do your own research - I put a link below to get you started.
Don't just take my words - do the research, run it past your grandpa's doctor - take the two resources (your grandpa's doc and research) and in the end make the best decisions in regard to his health.
It works - Good Luck...
p.s. I do not work for the company below, nor do I receive incentive...this link is just here to help you start off your research... God Bless...

Hydrotherapy in warm water can be very helpful. Get his doc to recommend it, some insurance may cover it. As for alternative medicine, aloe vera is also helpful, but not all brands are equally good. Catherine's Choice from Aloes International in Florida is excellent and worth the price. Stick with it for a few weeks till it starts working.

Each person is an individual, so I can't say how many shots it will take or how well the treatment he is getting will work for him. Something you may find helpful is Noni juice (or capsules) and/or Thai Go. You may consider Reiki treatments or EFT for the chronic pain.

I read somewhere that if you soak raisins in gin and eat a handful of the raisins every day, that helps with arthritis pain. I don't know how true it is, but some people have said it helped them.
Also, this seems to help - something called Certo:
